Why would they? They weren't around then, and I doubt Sega would be stupid enough to retcon that.

Iizuka said in an interview that Tails, Knuckles, Shadow and others would appear.
The game goes through three eras: Classic, Dreamcast and Modern. It'd make perfect sense for characters like Shadow and Rouge to appear.

Sure, but only in their respective "eras". And the final boss, I anticipate.

    In the later eras, perhaps.

Woah, are the textures really that blurry?

You probably won't notice it while playing the game because you're either going too fast or you're too far away, but yes. Consoles this gen are starting to age.

Damn. They are so blurry C.Sonic has seams down his belly and arms, and his eyes are as blurry has hell.

    All the bitches.
You can blame Sega for being fucking retarded and turning on mipmapping for everything that's even an inch from the camera.

Hopefully that'll be fixed in the final. It'd be a shame were this to be marred by something so simple to deal with.

Um, you people realize that those "screenshots" are 5120x2880 pixels, right? Fat chance playing the game in that resolution!
On the PS3 and Xbox 360, it'll probably run in 1280x720 at best. Scale the pictures down to that size and things look a lot less "blurry".

If you look carefully, you can still see some issues which really shouldn't be there even at 720p...

Maybe Classic Sonic's textures are like that because he's so far away in normal views when not shown in higher than high definition screenshots... at least I'd hope they'd switch to a higher quality texture if he gets that close... noticed Modern Sonic's eyes are a bit iffy too, but he's generally a behind the back view... hmm.

On a more positive (but lower definition) note, I really love the way the rocks behind waterfalls and such have that wet look, though I think Unleashed did it too, didn't it?

Indeed. Whatever flaws Unleashed had, it was absolutely gorgeous, so I'm quite happy to see that as the basis for this game.

Besides, making a game pretty usually comes last. Lay out everything and then build on it to make it look better. The eye thing I can see as a placeholder for now that will be fixed before release.

SEGA, Anisotropic Filtering, use it, love it.

Now, I could be grossly mistaken, but there's no way a Xbox 360 or PS3 can't handle at least 8x Anisotropic Filtering, right?

Okay seriously, what are you people bitching about? This is a Sonic game, not a Myst sequel. You're not supposed to be staring at a single frame of animation long enough to notice this kind of stuff in the first place.

From the last few posts, I feel like I should be seeing something wrong with this image, but I'm not seeing anything wrong with it, it looks good to me O_o

Is this lack of *struggles to say* "Anisotropic Filtering" really cramping the visuals that much? It looks pretty to me, even in a still image XD

I haven't played Sonic Colors (not enough interesting Wii games IMO for me to buy a Wii), but I noticed in Sonic Color gameplay videos, especially in the 3D areas, that there are notifications on the bottom screen that tells you if a pitfall and stuff is coming. I didn't see much in regards to notifications in regards to the small bit of gameplay we saw -- do you guys think it's important for those kind of notifications to exist?

For me is important, because these notifications give you a chance to react about a thing that you can fail without having to fail first and having to know by heart the zone to discover (and avoid) where you can fail.

The notifications could be turned on and off in Colors. They only pooped up in areas where death was certain.
