Jegus, I've just given myself nightmares.

 

While it would be awesome if the Time Eater is some old relic from Sonic's history, I doubt it. It just seems like another monster, providing the narrative justification for classic and modern Sonic to run about in old/new places again.

 

I did exactly the same way, PS3 CE and X360 SE, havent got PC one because my PC is so crap I doubt it even runs that :D

Atleast I have 360 one and I don't have to worry about not working etc etc, CD in and works.

PS3 game I will trade, if it's Reg free then I can do it everywhere. I want God Of War 3 for the trade if I ever get CE. It'sonly find out when Amazon has said that my stuff is shipped.

 

In regards to the Time Eater-Metal Sonic connection.....it could be a form even worse than Metal Overlord, since we know, how he likes to become more and more powerful....yet again proving to himself and others that he's NOT actually Sonic in the process. But I say that the time eater is none other than Knuckles Chaotix itself....forever pissed that it got kicked out of the continuum. But if this game ends ala Super Mario Bros. 2 American Edition, there will be HELL to pay!

 

He got rejected as the main boss and... Wait, that would have made him jealous of Eggman.

...Perhaps the last character Sonic must save is Classic Eggman?

 

Saving ol' speedy toothpick legs? Anyways the thing that intrigues me the most is the Time Eaters backstory. Why emerge now, in terms of our time and within Sonic's universe? (Aside from giving the game a purpose.)

It's obvious that the Sonic universe works in HYPERTIME

 

Still in love with the demo. After so many repeated attempts, the fastest I've yet mustered on Modern is 1'49'80. The one thing I know I need to master is hitting the boost as soon as you land on the first grind rail after going through the mid-air ring.

The great thing? Knowing that while, yes, Green Hill Zone is extremely linear, later zones are considerably less so. After looking at Seaside Hill and Sky Sanctuary, that becomes perfectly clear. For now, this is a great speed running level - there's so many little tricks and ways to shave seconds off. For instance, jumping lightly just as the waterfall 'bridge' section starts to slope down propelling you all the way past the obstacles with a constant boost.
It's also extremely fun just to play and only use boost where the game kind of expects it of you, like at the first loop. You really get a feel for the branching pathways through the level, each with their own tricks to learn for getting through just a little quicker.

I'm sure nobody will agree with me on this, but I feel they've nailed exactly what Modern Sonic should be. This is truly 3D Sonic gameplay as you imagined it! Or something.

Classic feels a little weird, but it's not 'bad' weird. Definitely easy enough to get used to. I just feel that while this is great and all, Modern is just so good it kind of outshines Classic.

I would be incredibly surprised if Time Eater was anything more than he appears to be from what we've already seen, honestly; that is to say, he's not Classic Eggman, he's not that red Metal Sonic whose name escapes me, and he's not that concept art villain. He's just another generic final boss monster, like every other generic final boss monster we've gotten in every 3D Sonic game since Adventure, Colors excepted (where we got Eggman :D).

I was gonna say "well, it reminds me of the NTSC filter IceKnight always wanted"... then I noticed the faux transparencies that an NTSC filter would properly blur, well, aren't. Yeah, that's a pretty crappy filter.

The only thing we really know is that Eggman has some connection to Time Eater. Honestly? I'm expecting Time Eater to be the Egg Dragoon running on some mystic power. It's a bit strange that out of all the bosses, Egg Dragoon got the biggest redesign.

But, eh. Only time will tell... Unless we all get sucked back into 1991. Then we would have to wait another 20 years.

 

Remember the Egg Dragoon's production name was "Prototype-I"! We have the next version on our hands here.

Obviously, the Time Eater is Alex Kidd trying to erase Sonic from existence so he will be Sega's mascot once again.
