To be honest, we're still not too sure if the Nintendo HD is actually happening yet and that Generations is even a title for it. Sure there's evidence behind the Nintendo HD, but considering all of the "Wii HD" rumours in the past, it wouldn't surprise me too much if nothing was announced at E3.

And to add to it, this is just baseless speculation. If the console was announced, I doubt it'd come out till the end of next year.

I am fully expecting this game to be a launch title on Nintendo's new console, it would be too good of an opportunity to pass up.

Generations will possibly be a system seller next to GTA5 and Pikmin 3.

Sorry to piss on the party but after seeing that trailer my excitement levels plummetted.

Classic Sonic!?! Eeeee! Bullshit level design? With the same problems that have been occuring since SA1? Here we go again.

For example how many times does Sonic have to be chased by something with a switched view? It's happened in nearly every game since SA1, it got old the second time I played Emerald Coast. It's just hold right and forward to win in one game, Complete with automated sections in 2D and 3D.

Same shit different packaging. I would love this to be good but I fear it won't.

I wonder if SEGA will make some sort of collector's edition with this game. For example, the game will come with an art and history book and even better an anniversary statue like 06 did, I'd reserve it in a heartbeat.

Only thing that seems to bug me about this game is the ugly HUD. I'm hoping this is an early build and it will be changed. (the boost gauge looks fine though) Most likely its a early build considering the life icon on the top right stays the same for both Sonics.

I'm also hoping the rest of M. Sonic's stages won't be so linear like M. Greenhill seems to be. It could be because M.Greenhill is the first stage so its possible that it could get progressively tougher and more branched out in later stages. As well, if Colors is any indication, we might see drifting and side-stepping make a comeback and if this is the case, I hope the drifting is a more redefined version of Unleashed's controls and not forced on some parts of stages like Colors; the same goes with side-stepping. Also, I'm glad to see they're not reusing the "mash the A button because your so awesome at this game since you flew off a ramp and jumped 5 times in the air even though its physically retarded" thing.

Finally, I want to see the return of special stages. Last special stage in a mainstream title was Heroes and that was clunky as hell. In fact, 2 sets of special stages for each Sonic, even better. A re-imagined half-pipe and blue sphere special stage would do nicely.

EDIT: As long as none of the sections for C. Sonic are scripted (loops, corkscrews). Then I'm not worried about his stages.

Though I am more excited about the classic stages, possibly because well its classic Sonic. But I should note that I loved Unleashed and Colours, and considering that they are using this style of game play I am happy and for the first time I can relax, they have two Sonic games where the Sonic game play was well received under their belt, I can just sit back and enjoy the development of this one.

Sonic doesn't sound like your sort of game. Perhaps try Mario, instead?

So you're saying Sonic should be hold right to win? Get out.

I'm wondering why Sega is adhering so much to linearity for the 3D sections, at least the ones we've seen so far. Considering how loose the actual turning mechanics are, not counting quick-step or drift, you would think the mechanics would be better suited to levels with more breadth than what we've gotten thus far.

Also, what are the chances that what we are seeing with the Classic sections are physics from the Advance series?

I am afraid about the controls, I rather prefer the Unleashed's buttons scheme for the PS3 than the Colors buttons scheme for the Wii. I mean, in Colors you use Double Jump to do Homing Attack, in Unleashed we use X to Jump and Square to Homming Attack, in the Interview I saw Double X to do homming attack. But it is not the real problem, I prefer to do Quick Step with L, R rather than using Left Analog Stick as in the Colors.

Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
What I'm noticing is a shift towards speed-running focus in this game. Sure, to just beat the game might be pretty easy. But to get a fast time you'll need to know what you're doing.

Honestly I prefer this. I liked how Unwiished's ranks were all based off time. Some of the standards required for a good rank, specifically colors, are just stupid. In colors you need to abuse the ever living fuck out of wisps, and doing that with the drill wisp gets kinda dull. And in Unleashed HD I may get a good time but I may have looked at a QTE the wrong way and oh now you just missed that S rank.

Honestly, I've felt this gradual change since SA2. I got most of my A ranks in that game by going "fuck it" and blasting through the level as fast as I possibly could. Encouraging speed-runs might be one of the things that differentiates modern Sonic games from other platformers these days.

No dash panels in classic Sonic's gameplay and no homing attack.
    FUCK YEAH
This once again proves how shitty Sonic 4: Ep.1.
I sure hope C and M Sonics will vanish it from history using time travel.

Sooo people are whining about level design from about a grand total of what, six minutes of actual gameplay footage?

On Green Hill Zone, the level notorious for being piss easy and not really having any depth?

Don't go changin' on me, Retro. :v:

Remember the bitching we got when we saw the first 3 seconds of Sonic 4 footage?

By comparison this is actually ok

I'm just loving all the homages that are going towards this game... even down to the CGI artwork.

EDIT: And yes Classic Sonic "WAS" a lighter blue, especially in earlier concept art.
EDIT2: found a cleaner version of classic Sonic.

Nintendo will have to work fast with Mario if thats true, Since Sonic Generations will be done this year, it could easily be a launch title on Nintendo's new system. it would be embarassing for them if they had another launch without a core Mario game, ala SA2B Vs Luigi's Mansion XD

Not sure if this was posted before, but here's a higher quality version of the Gameplay Trailer that Sega put up on their press site a few hours a go.

    http://www.sega-press.com/cgi-bin/WebObjec...11.1.5.21.0.9.1

I don't know if it works for non-members, but let me know if it doesn't or I'll put it up elsewhere (or someone else will).

Also speaking of the press site, they don't have any screenshots up or artwork. They don't even have that teaser trailer up. All that's up is the gameplay trailer.
