I dunno. That totally confused me too. On the pictures, one has the USK rating (as used in Germany) and the other has PEGI.

Shipping to the USA is an extra £5 (from both gamestation.co.uk and game.co.uk ). The price hike of the collector's edition would be the exact same over the base unit if it was in the US. It being EU exclusive shouldn't be a problem for ANYONE here who wants it and would have the money if it was available in the USA. £5 is nothing.

Also, WARNING! NEITHER website has this version up for preorder yet! The only one up is the STANDARD special edition with the Casino Night DLC. Patience, people.

Furthermore, GAME and Gamestation will not ship orders over 1kg internationally. The Generations CE Will likely fall into this category.

Better that than you order the game and find out very late that they won't ship it.

I suppose this is true. I don't want for either me or someone else who is getting it for me to waste money on this if they can't get it.

Can I preorder something and pick it up next year when I got to London for a semester

Shit, I hadn;t seen that line about the 1kg. We need to confirm the weight of this thing, or failing that find another shop somewhere that will export irrespective of weight.

If Sega of America refuses to have this for us, can I expect you kind European fans to put up the DVD VOBs and CD FLACs up on a torrent?

I usually tend to be okay with just getting free digital renditions of all these things, but hey, it's Sonic's 20th, it won't happen again. I feel the want to actually go the distance this time, and attempt at attaining this, US release or not.

Will be keeping watch on that HMV website. Thanks for mentioning it, OL.

    Oh, a couple more potentials:

http://www.shopto.net/page.php?page=info&topic=delivery - no costs, but reading between the lines if they'll ship consoles, they'll ship Generations.

    http://help.zavvi.com/index.php?sid=1084280&lang=en&action=artikel&cat=7&id=40&artlang=en

So no Generations for Kim Jong Il or Gaddafi, but everyone here should be OK =P

Now we just have to wait for actual listings.

    $179.99 New Zealand dollars = £93.55 = $149.18 USD = €106.12

Guess this is the £99 Megapack that was in that leaked document, then?

$179 is simply that website's deal on the game. At retailers and other online stores its going to cost NZD$200. Which isn't that bad for the exchange rate sure, but the sad thing is, supposedly because of the exchange rate, any regular game costs NZD$120. Which I'm sure doesn't equal USD$60, but closer to USD$100.

This is hilarious. Even Frodo and Sam get Sonic Generations CE and yet the Americans go without. Also yes Europe has traditionally been Sega's strongest market. The Master System slammed the NES here (the NES being miraculously a non-entity in Europe) which was the main reason Sega supported the system for so long (and even contributed to the continued development of so many Sonic titles like Chaos and Triple Trouble). This carried on with the Megadrive and Europe remained Segaland until the PlayStation came along and destroyed everyone.

It reminds of me of when Sega did the same thing with Shenmue 2. Cancelled the US release and still released the game in Europe. I do agree that the reason here may be because Europe has traditionally supported Sega since the beginning. I think the ratio of Master Systems to NES consoles was something like five to one at one point (this probably even shocked Sega given the NES had over 90% marketshare in America). Still though Sega should have released this in the US. The Genesis did extremely well in America and even the Dreamcast had a strong American launch.

Also we have a price for this now. New Zealand = $200 (which converts to) UK = £104 and US = $165. Damn expensive.

Probably not. Games in Australia and NZ are hugely overpriced by default.

God you don't know the half of it with Sonic puns round here. A bit of a drive away from me is an actual Emerald Hill and there really is an Angel Island somewhere, can't remember where.
