Sonic Generations Megathread

Work isn't cheap, but take into consideration this. Sonic Generations ends up selling by the fuckload (I'm sure it will). Let's pick a number, say 3 million copies (assuming it goes that high) for the 360, PS3, and PC versions combined (not everyone's a pirate). For $50 a pop, that's $150,000,000. That's a whole lot of money, money which I'm sure SEGA can use to pay off their workers. Assuming the levels come in packs, such as Classic pack (S1, S2, SCD, S3, S&K), if they charge it for I don't know, $12 (I'd buy it for that ), and everyone who bought Generations buys the classic pack (who wouldn't), that's $36,000,000 from that DLC pack alone.

I honestly know nothing about sales, though, so this is all just guesstimation on my part. Though, the same concept applies; obviously this is a game that can seriously milk DLC and get big bucks off of it, so I'm sure if Generations sells well, which I assume it will, there will be more than enough cash to pay off level designers and artists for DLC packs.

EDIT: And Musicians, of course.

 

I don't usually post, 'cause I like rather just read the news/info/gossip.

But holy fook, those Chemical Plant pictures made me wet.
Then Stardust Speedway, with that ferris wheel containing giant boomboxes and Metal Sonic, made me jizz my pants.

That is all.

 

Why is that? If your reason is that it's because SEGA can at many times fail at doing what would be best for the fanbase, I wouldn't be surprised if they did say "Nah we done, movin on" and leave our faces in the mud as usual, but they seem to be getting it more than they have been.

 

Yeah those High-res pictures really gave me a good glimpse into Stardust Speedway and Chemical Plant Zone, I am pleased with Sega. They have done well.

As regarding the possible DLC, I would love to see this, though I'm not sure Sega really would do that. Something tells me that Sega will choose to not make DLC. Even if they game sells well.

 

Guess Who is right about that, there'd be a lot of work making these stages. Though, there is a possability some of these levels are going to be in Sonic Generations... just not the one we want.

Some of us may be forgetting that there is a lesser version of Generations comming to us- Generations 3DS. Although it was rumored Sonic's portable adventures might be remade on the 3DS, there's an equal amount of chance they won't be, and some of the levels showcased in the video might be remade with Sonic 4 physics and Rushleashed gameplay...

 

Loving what they've done to CPZ. I was worried it would resemble Crisis City a bit too much judging from the scans, but they pretty much nailed it.

I read some speculation on this screeny that mentioned Modern CPZ having some sort of meltdown or explosion or whatever. Sounds plausible seeing as how the stage just looks like it randomly turns to a bunch of explosions and flames and water/mega mack flooding the place. Harmless little theory, though, not going to say I'm right.



I wish C. Tails and M. Tails didn't look so similar, but still, they look good.


I can see SEGA making DLC. Pretty sure they did with Unleashed.

 

Except with new music and art ;P

 

Remember though, the entire level list was revealed via toy box art...

 

Anyone else irked by Classic Tails' fur color? I'm absolutely certain he had a redder shade of orange than that.

 

Not sure Classic Sonic was always that light blue either

 

He dose look so awsome, I am in super approval of this Tails, He is a tiny bit too yellow, but otherwise, I can't wait to see him in motion XD

 

Is anybody else not digging the water?

I don't know, it just seems kind of...stale.

Yeah.. the water does look a little.. lazy, I don't know the word but it kind of annoys me. That is, if you're speaking of Chemical Plant Zone

 

If both Classic Tails and Sonic are lighter colors of their normal colors, it basically confirmed Pink Knuckles :P

 

Why are you curious? Secret Rings was an amazing game. Sand Oasis and Night Palace are probably the best levels in the game too, so I'm very glad they were included.

If those levels were in Sonic Generations, I would be a very happy camper.

Also glad Sonic CD is getting representation.

The water reminds me of how the water looked in Carnival Night and Launch Base (aka a line).
