Um. It's not going to be any more expensive than $50.

Sonic Unleashed was priced at $50 as well when it was released. There's no magic deal here, that's just how much sonic games are worth nowadays (unfortunately).

As far as my wallet's concerned, that's not unfortunate. Certainly not the cheapest I've seen a franchise go either.

Sonic unleashed was $50 on the wii, and $30 on the PS2. It was $60 on the PS3 and 360. I bought all 4 versions.

  4. You know...I don't think Nora's wrong here. Thinking way back, I spent $50 on Unleashed (360) the day it was released. I didn't think much of it though, because the Gamestop employee told me the lower price was an attempt by Sega to make amends after Sonic '06.

Those screens were released along with Chemical Plant and Stardust Speedway. It's just that nobody really paid attention to them because they still look like Heroes' special stages and nothing more, really.

I've noticed that all the special stage screens we're seeing show Modern Sonic. Is it possible we could be getting two different special stages?

$50 For a 360 version makes my wallet very happy! but I wonder why the cheap price? you would think SEGA would push the price up being the anniversary and the bonus stuff.

So does anyone have the full japanese article those scans came from? I'm still looking for it.

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album
Argh. Just once I'd like to see a special stage that isn't a variation on Sonic 1 or 2. One thing I loved about the classics was that the special stages were always new and original; 1, 2, 3, and CD were all very different. I kind of understand the reasoning for basing it off an old one in this case, since Generations is all about the nostalgia, but it's irritating nonetheless.

Well, at least it's Heroes. Those special stages were great in concept.

$50 is cheap for you people? Honestly, these games are fucking expensive. I like Generations but fuck if I'm dropping $50 for a platformer.

Yeah, games are expensive. But if the game's worth it, I'm laying the money down. Treating platformers like they're second rate games that need a price cut is kind of silly without suggesting that ALL games should be sold for far cheaper prices.

  12. The depressing thing is that in the UK, $50 =~ £30.

We usually pay £40 for new releases, and if I remember correctly, Sega have been pushy with their RRP's in the past and charged £40~50 for some of their titles.

Though $50 would be reasonable for a Wii title over here, we're most likely going to be paying $64 (at current GBP -> USD rate) for the game on release. If it's £40.

And that's the standard edition too.

All games should be brought down in price. I never made the argument against that.

The third image makes me wish that was what Modern Sonic 3DS would actually be like...

I kind of agree that $50 is pretty pricy for a game, even though Generations is going to be *gasp* good (hopefully most likely), but the same concept can be on other kinds of games, Chimpo. For instance, am I really going to pay $60 for a game where I shoot people? Or $50 on a game where I take a gun that shoots only two portals?

No offense, but in terms of games you should probably take into consideration the amount of work was put into the game and how much time was spent with it (not including breaks, *eyes valve*).

EDIT: how the fuck did 4 3 people ninja me
    EDIT 2: Miscounted >>

True, but you singled out platformer.

Because no games are worth $50, especially platformers.

Yup. Which is why I usually never buy first-day and just wait to get it used or for a lower price.

The only exception I made in recent times is Sonic Colors, and I think I remember paying $45 for it (minus tax) come to think of it.

EDIT: Considering Sonic games tend to be over before you know it, unless its padded out with a lot of junk, you might think twice about paying a high price for that experience. It better be good.

I played Sonic Colors when it came out in a Red Box nearby, and unless I'm going to get it for Christmas, I'll be doing the same thing for Generations; I don't have the cash right now to blow $50 bucks on a game.

Woah, you guys are right! I still have my original ticket in the box from buying Unleashed. Got it just a few days after release at Wal(anus)Mart, and sure enough, $49.88.
