I think it would be cool if the 3DS version split off after the classic games, and tackled the handheld side of the history. The GameGear, Advanced, and Rush/Colors would be an equal comparison to Genesis, Dreamcast, and Modern.

Am I the only one who wants a unique, new, special stage for once?

+ - Not that this one is necessarily bad, mind you.

I'd like to see Sonic CD's Special Stages, you know! But the architypical classic one is Sonic 2.

    ALL OVER MY FACE SEGA

I might seriously buy a console version and 3DS version now just to see all of the levels re-imagined in 3D

    Classic Robotnik looks wonderful ;0;

So modern Sonic is just Sonic Rush?

    God damn it.

I'm honestly not the least bit surprised about that

    Is Dimps developing this?

It's specified in the article that they're co-developing it with Sonic Team.

I guess Sonic Team are mostly handling the classic stuff and Dimps the modern?

Another pair of pants ruined by Sega. It better not be in vain this time, dammit.

Sounds like M. Sonic plays like Colors DS, which is A-Okay with me, since I feel like I enjoyed Colors DS more than I should've.

    God damn it.

I really wanted to have a portable Unleashed.

Sonic Adventure 3DS would be cool

I guess I'll have to see it in motion because at the moment I'm not all too impressed with what I'm seeing. The fact that Dimps is working with them doesn't help at all.

+ - agh, they just HAD to put my favorite Sonic 3 level / possible favorite Sonic level ever on the portable version I don't even care about

  12. Did anyone else catch that you have to jump onto springs, rather than running into them? I wonder if this'll be revised in Generations HD.

  13. Wiki'd 3DS info.

It is interesting that the levels between the versions will be different...makes you wonder what will be in the 3DS version and what will be put in the console version instead...

Personally, I don't think this is a better idea than just having DLC for unused Sonic zones on the HD platforms, but this seems like a fine compromise between satisfying Nintendo console owners and non-Nintendo console owners. And for what it's worth, the game looks great. I have about the same attitude with Modern Sonic in the 3DS as I do with on the PS3 and 360, and Green Hill Zone on the 3DS looks way better than Splash Hill on the Wii. Hands down. How's that for irony?

Let's see, that's Kid Icarus, Cave Story 3DS, Star Fox & OoT remakes, and now Generations as reasons to get a 3DS. Still flimsy and dubious, but its something. Honestly I'm more interested in just getting a PS3 and Generations.

Does anyone else want to see the original special stage reimagined in SHINY HD? Not Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I’s underwhelming reimagination thereof, you understand.

Im sorry, but I just don't see it. The background basically looks like open water, a rock model sticking up, and some 2D rocks in the far back. Looks really dull to me honestly.

Masato Nakamura not being involved, and Jun Senoue editing his tracks? Enthusiasm dampened. The rest looks awesome, but... Damn. Why not pay Nakamura to edit Senoue's music? Then it might actually sound good. I'm pretty sure he could even salvage Sonic 4's tracks.

I know I'm probably talking out of my ass but, do you guys remember that just for fun concept art mock up submission contest that Sega was holding during the early promotional efforts for sonic 4? One of those scans made me think of that. Does anyone think they could've used any of those during development here? I know its a %99 chance that my idea is wrong, but still it's just a thought.

It was just instantly apparent to me. Better lighting, better color distribution, more apparent depth. It just looks better for a modern 2.5D remix of GHZ than Sonic 4's use of pre-rendered imagery. Admittedly it's not much, and the impression will be considerably different once we all see it in motion, but so far it looks nicer. Don't know what else to say about it.

Evidently from the Mix Maestro section, they had to pay Nakamura just to use the tunes.
