Sonic Generations Hacking (and More!)

  1. I'm stuck with a very laggy laptop that give me roughly 5-8 frames per second. (It was a graduation present from back in '09) If it means I can play the game as more than just a very interesting slideshow, I'd be willing to give this a try. Thing is, I've never messed with the mods before, so I'd probably need somebody to walk me through the process.

    Sometimes the game just crashes with it, the reason why it does it is still anyone's guess. Also reposting the link on the new page.

    Unofficial Sonic Generations Patch FIX list, open to be edited by anyone. Please throw any issues you think that can be easily fixed(without having to hack the game's code), and we might do a fan-patch compilation for it.

  5. YES! I was wondering how some of the other stages were doing. Seems like they are coming along nicely. Can't wait to see more!

    By the way, some levels have Big Chaser sections. What do you plan on implementing for those sections? + - And if possible can we see the Gun Truck in Empire City?

    I'm playing with the shaders to see if I can get that monochrome diffuse bug to go away.

    What I did was basically switch around the four main shader .ars in bb3, replacing r in the filename with s and vice versa.

    They left over compiled shaders from the old Unleashed PC version, but they're not fully compatible I'm afraid. The monochrome diffuse bug is one for example, and using the generations shaders for those just gives you red diffuse maps. IDK how feasible this is to use well, since a lot of stuff breaks too.

    I wonder if porting back some of those shaders into the Generations renderer will fix those reflection bugs though.

    How many diffuse shaders are there?
    There's one that works no matter what, and the other has monochrome diffuse textures.

    Also, let's play around with the xmls a bit, see what we can change. I mean, monochrome diffuse shader is the only major problem with this renderer.

    I'm looking for any missing shaders between them. This is going to take a LOT of trial and error.

    Yes, but only as an internal development build (pictures of them playing it exist). Colors probably was too. The engine common to all 3 games is designed to be easily portable. They likely build the game on the PC first, then make tweaks as necessary to get optimal performance out of the other systems.
