Personally, I think Tweaker's suggestion is a good one.

 

Will it attually have plants or a 'garden' kinda feel?

I have two little probs though with it...
One being the grass>brick area, looks alittle odd, maybe put the grass over the bricks, with the shading underneigh.
The other is the transition between the higher, mountain section of the bg, and the lower "inside" section. I know you have put some odd bricks there, but it looks alittle off still...

Still a great job though! Can't wait!

The only gripe with it could be that the Marble Zone stuff might be a little too recognizable. Perhaps altering the temples and broken columns a little, or adding some stuff based on the new bricks...

 

I'd try replacing the grass with something more fitting, like some pebbles for the ground or something. That'd be cool, and I think it'd look better against the unshaded bricks.

Hot damn, Yuski! That looks really nice, especially compared to the usual art edits I see. However, that sky looks the slightest bit empty. Maybe try adding a few more clouds?

 

One thing I loved about the original Sonic Gaiden and continue to be amazed by is the fun and colorful designs of the stages, such as Brick City and the old Labyrinth Zone. New Marble Zone is definately quite good! The 'lego' feel combined with the classic rustic war castle look with the statues on top looks amazing, and the ballroom checkerboard completes it. Great job, Yuski!

 

Man, your creative talent is just awesome. I can't wait to play this.
