Sonic Frontiers Thread - PS4, PS5, Xbox, Switch, PC

This is it guys. I can feel it! This sonic games gonna be a good one. Can you feel the sunshine?

 

The fact I'm more hype for the movie trailer than the game is kinda weird.

 

If you told me 2 years ago that i would be looking forward more to the movie than the games, i would think you are out of your mind, funny how things turned around.

At the very least i can trust that a Sonic reveal will be good, if the game also looked good? even better, and this thought is reassuring to me.

 

I dunno why but I've also got a good feeling about this. I'm sure I'll live to regret it

 

Inb4 we get Wisps, Zavok, and Green Hill Zone.

 

I'm not excited at all which I think makes it better. I didn't watch the first film and have no interest in the second (but I'm happy for those who like it).

I feel like I'm about to see an embarrassing old friend again for the first time in four years. I'm curious to see them and it'll at least be funny if they are embarrassing.

 

my excitement is mostly for the vague possibility that we may be getting a big-budget game with ambition.

will it be good? we'll have to wait and see about that, but it will definitely be interesting, that's for sure :P

 

I think it's exciting that Sonic Team have decided to make the public look at their work for the first time in.. maybe over a decade. Wasn't Generations really the last time they made a scene about themselves? The past decade of announcements have felt kinda like they've been tailored just for the fans watching/listening, not particularly something they're super proud of the whole world seeing (ESPECIALLY Forces). Unless we count Boom. Which I'm not. lol

But we'll see what entails tonight, I guess! Seeing something ambitious from them will be refreshing after a long time feeling like Sonic Team is phoning it in.

As for the movie sequel, well, its definitely the second movie. If you're excited for that, cool.

 

You never know what to expect with Sonic Team, but Frontiers sounds like a potentially ambitious and fresh game. I don't mind the boost formula, but this sounds much more exciting than yet another budged boost sequel. The fact Iizuka stated they're hoping Frontiers serves as the basis for Sonic games from now on like Adventure did back in the day gives me hope they're actually putting effort and money on it.

 

I'm going in with no expectations whatsoever. Either In gonna be interested in what's shown or keep it moving.

But boy would it be nice to not be disappointed in this series

 

I don't expect anything great but that the game is open-world makes me interested. You have two very tricky to design things (3D Sonic and open world) mixing together here. If it's bad, it'll at least be amusingly bad.

 

I'm hoping for some glimpses of the gameplay and the open world. I expect to see nothing or very little; I figure it will be a story trailer with the title reveal... but I'd love to see some of how it actually plays.

 

Refresh my memory: did we ever get an OFFICIAL source saying the game is open-world?

 

Anyone know where we can watch the stream? Sorry I'm a geezer now and have been very busy.

I went to sxsw when forces was revealed and there I knew instantly how the game would turn out; even though I gave it a fair shot, I knew it'd be a dud. I have a good feeling about this project this time around, but I won't know until I see where they are with it.

The movie will do well, looking forward to it.

 

Officially all we know is there is a Sonic game. Everything else we "know" is from the leaks. Take that as you will.

 

I’m just shocked that we are getting a first look at Frontiers BEFORE Origins.. even though Origins is scheduled to come out first (supposedly)

This probably means that the collection actually IS in development hell (I personally doubt it) or SEGA doesn't think it will create a big splash at the Game Awards (even though I think the return of Sonic 3 is a big deal itself)

As for Frontiers, I’m predicting maybe 10-15 seconds of gameplay and a title reveal.. that’s it

 

I think that's just because Sonic Origins is technically already announced and Sonic Frontiers we don't know anything about yet, and it's a higher priority since it's the next main game for the series.

 

it would be very funny if, after months of leaks and speculation, the game is actually just another linear boostfest.

that would be too funny perhaps... so funny that it ends up being true...

 

I swear to god if we don't get gameplay

I'm interested just because this is the first time in a long while that we have really no idea what the new Sonic game will be. Forces was gonna be a boost game obviously, so there wasn't any of that when it was revealed. I wouldn't say I'm EXCITED for the reveal or unironically hype, but I'm most definitely interested.
