Perhaps this is what the Red Rings are for? Or, there are secrets on the Map, or better yet, hidden exits to some acts, Mario Style? I doubt this theory, but it would be pretty cool.
Maybe all the red rings are to unlock... CONCEPT ART! :specialed: Although honestly, what if the red rings acted like the special stage rings from Sonic Advance 2? Collecting them all in a stage unlocks the giant ring at the end for you to jump through. It'd give a good incentive to collect them.
hey guys, remember how well that didn't work the first time? And beyond that, what after collecting all seven Emeralds?
The only thing I want in episode 2 is for the special stages to not be as retarded as the ones from episode 1. Too tedious. Oh and I really hope those red rings aren't used for the same purpose as sonic colors because I will refuse to buy the game if they are.
But then what would the red rings be used for? So far they've mostly been used to unlock Super Sonic in Sonic Colours and concept art/music in Sonic Generations. What they could unlock would have to be really good, or a big letdown. Actually I'm betting that having them all then beating the final boss does a sorta sneak peek at the next episode, which would be a siloutte of Knuckles or something. (If it's of Knuckles doing his Sonic 3 chuckle then it'd be the best reason ever to get them red rings). Also, I thought about this the other day, about the whole "Sonic and Tails must work together no solo". Why not it have Sonic only/Tails only, like where the character doesn't follow you and all that, but it doesn't stop you from using the team attack button to call them to help you fly or dig or whatever? It'd please alotta people who prefer doing special stages without Tails getting in the way. And for all the times it's a really simple bit of co-op like flying up to a ledge...isn't that what springs are for anyways?
I'm really disappointed they are recreating Sonic 2 Special Stages. Not only have they been done a thousand times, but they aren't fun at all to play in. Is it really that hard to create new unique special stages, you know like how every game in the main classic series before it did. Or how about recreating Sonic 3 and Knuckles stages. I personally found those incredibly fun to play in and miles better than Sonic 1's or 2's special stages.
New video interview with Ken Balough from Game Reactor: http://www.gamereactor.eu/news/20301/Sonic+4%3A+Episode+II+GRTV+Interview/?sid=d68447aafbe046fa36dc991bbee1f81a In it, the usual talk about fixing physics, improved graphics, cloud saving, possible Sonic 5, Tails' co-op mov- ...hold the phone, Sonic 5? Granted he tossed that name in there nonchalantly as an example for a future 2D Sonic project after Sonic 4 is wrapped up, but hey, more 2D Sonic games? Count me in! He talks about the future of the 2D Sonic series near the end of the video interview.
A fifth sequel edges into weird territory. I'd rather a "sequel" to Sonic 4 be Sonic + Subtitle than it be Sonic 5.
Good. Ditch Sonic 4 and go for a new/better direction with Sonic 5. Just finish it off in a good way. Perhaps Sonic 5 will be passed off to a different developer and go in a different direction.
If they make it a decent sized game with decent physics and level design that'd be cool, but if it's more Sonic 4-esque weirdness then I won't be much more excited for it than I currently am for Episode II.
I wonder if Sonic CD made them change their minds. It was better received and it showed Sega what people want, stuff that's more on the lines of that. Perhaps there is a chance that after Sonic 4 Ep 2, not only will we start to see stuff more in line with Taxman's CD remake, but also the end of the Dimps made Sonic games? Personally I hope this is the case. Dimps is a virus that's been holding Sonic back ever since Sonic Unleashed. They lost their touch with Sonic games and need to be let go to make their fighting games and what not.
I'm sorry, but that last thing I want to do right now is "buy another device!!!" This is the only game in which I've seen episodes split across platforms. I still have Wii money left over that I guess I should waste on something else that isn't Sonic related (but the game BETTER work on my damn Evo Shift!).
I doubt we'll even really see a Sonic 5, but I guess it's possible. Let's just get Episode II before we say anything.
For Sonic 5 there's no excuse not to switch to Taxman. A pre-made, proprietary engine that will keep fans content, and a developer who knows what the heck he's doing.
I have to disagree about Dimps. They've shown in the past that that the can create great Sonic games and replicate the classic physics. Don't forget the Sonic Rush titles, which were also very good, even if they didn't have the physics of old. Also, what was wrong with the Wii daytime levels in Sonic Unleashed? Dimps created those and those were great as well. The only game that Dimps made that was moderately poor was Episode 1, so I figure you guys should give Dimps a second chance.
Sonic Retro? :v: I hope they consider Taxman for the job. After the success of Sonic CD, I'd say Taxman would be the only way to go. If this happens, I'll pay full retail price for the game.
