That is totally not true. The OST of Sonic Colors were very well reproduced with the sample system on the DS version (even Sweet Mountain! :o). The Songs of Sonic 4 have few instruments because wanted them that way. Period.
After a few stupid-long delays, I'm in Frisco. Just in time, too. Never fly US Airways. No matter what sweet, last-minute deal they cut you.
True, here's an example of another game that "Dumbed Down" the music to fit in with WiiWares limitations, using an modified version of MIDI with its own sound banks (MODI I think they phrased it as?) and it sounds more advanced than Sonic 4, and each part contains a lot more music than Sonic 4 Episode 1. So the style of music was down to SEGA and Jun trying to emulate the Genesis sound but, well, trying badly at it? edit: replaced with a better example.
So I just got back from the feedback session in San Fran. I'll go into more detail after some rest, but I can tell you that it turned out quite well.
apparently people don't know just what magic can be done with even a mere 4 channels of instrumentation .MOD .XM .SID "tracker" music, think Amiga and Commodore music...
So, we are getting that App Store update, right SEGA? I mean, you're a month late today. Will you be releasing this the same time you'll be releasing that ol' Sonic 2 update (Read: Never)?
We asked about this again last week. It's in the middle of some red tape right now, but they're hoping to get it through asap - will post if I hear anything more in the meantime.
Yeah, it's not the 1990's anymore, MIDI can sound decent, then again, even back in the 1990's there was the likes of the MT-32 MIDI like Drivers that sound great, as for that example, there are a few telltale (sorry) signs that hark back to old school MIDI, mainly listen out for the brass horns and military drum in that example and it sounds very MIDI-esque compared to the other instrument channels in the song.
Guess Jun Senoue hasn't got an excuse. Sonic 4 should have played and sounded better. Look better too, I guess, but mostly the first two.
Thanks . Could you ask about Sonic 2 when you get a chance? Oh, and Apple does tend to block things up, so I guess SEGA's got an excuse? Keep being awesome, Ruby.
Why can't SEGA just bitch and whine about it? It worked for <a href="http://forum.nin.com/bb/read.php?59,651569/" target="_blank">Trent Reznor</a>.
That example might be from the PC version, but apart from the first episode which had some problems, the music sounds the same on both platforms, the music on the PC version is just the MIDI music played through an MT-32 emulator and recorded. The only main difference is that the wii version doesn't have some of the stronger echo and reverb effects in the songs.
Alright Ladies and Germs, its time to help out your fellow Wiki! We need screenshots of all the bosses in high quality. So who would like to volunteer?
I'm fairly certain this will have nothing to do with the directly preceding posts, but I just wanted to ask some civilized fans. Maybe it's just me, but has anyone else found that the Lost Labyrinth boss is a somewhat severe spike in difficulty?
