My brother bought that one day before the sale. I'm quite satisfied with it and Mad Gear is fun as hell, IMO. Plus it has my favorite songs in the game. Looking forward to getting the Wii version later. (I know, I know, two versions of the same game. But I didn't buy the iOS version. )
I was peacefully replaying Sonic 4 after I did that 100% on the PS3...and I couldn't laugh louder at what I got: It's 4AM, but this needed to be recorded.
I did press left and right AND jumped after I stopped recording, and I did eventually get out. T'was weird, though.
So you're saying Jun Senoue's inability to find a MD-style synthesizer is directly connected to the differences in the arrangement of the end-of-act tune between the Wii version and the other versions? What? ALL the music in Sonic 4 Wii is sampled. This much is clear from simply listening to the songs in question. What it has to do with finding a MD-style synthesizer is beyond me.
I'm guilty as charged for that one. To be honest, the differences in the games are enough to warrant two purchases if you like Sonic 4. I bought the iPod version because it was a way to experience Sonic 4 properly long before the console versions became available.
It's not rocket science. What I meant was that those tracks’ near identicality to their counterparts in Sonic 3 & Knuckles implies that either they are direct recordings (for whatever reason) or that Jun Senoue did (eventually) obtain an accurate MD-style sampler—albeit one that apparently only works on the Wii, and that he could only use on those two tracks. In any case, Scarred Sun has said—paraphrasing—“As for the issue of an MD [synth/SoundFont], I can cryptically confirm that is no longer an issue.”
What I don't understand is this: How come Sonic 4 doesn't have Genesis instruments while the Simulator stages in Colors are retro out the ass?
Effort? Just throwing that out there :p I still find it extremely hard to believe that Jun could not emulate the original sound no matter how hard he tried, did he spend like 10 minutes looking?
http://xcancel.com/SuperMeatBoy I like this. The developers aid how they refuse to make the game episodic for the Wii, because it is a way for companies to milk you out of more money. And what game do they use as an example when they responded to someone's question? Why Sonic 4 of course! I want to try that game out personally, I just wish it was on the PS3. But I have a 360 so I guess I could just get it. Heard it's a bitch though
The developers of "Super Meat Boy" are so rad. They don't give a fuck about anything. They say what they want, they do what they want and they followed through on their vision. Their game is consistently great. There's no bullshit with those guys. I couldn't have denounced episodic content better myself. However, we're here with one episode under our belt and that isn't going to change. The ideal situation is that SEGA lowers the price and up the content of the episodes from here on out. $15 is a bitch and a half for what you're getting.
I remember the games being $50 back in the day....it's like paying $77.77 today for a full fucking game. Spending $15 now is like spending $9.64 back in the day. Quit yer bitchin. If there are to be 3 episodes, that would be only $45.00 today...or $28.93 in 1991. Sonic 4 costs less than Sonic 1, even counting for inflation! Where is the rip-off exactly?
I was going to talk about inflation, real value, costs of production, etc. but then I realized that Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 is not worth $9.64 anyways, so fuck it.
Ignoring that I feel that S1 is a much better game than S4, it a low budget digitally distributed game. So no money is needed for game media, case, instruction book, shipping, retail markup, and so on. And also since it's a digitally distributed game, you can't sell it later on when you're done with it. If they had released the full game at once, I don't think it would be more than $30. So forcing us to pay $15 for a third of a game it a bit of a rip off IMO.
At the same time, anyone who bought Sonic 4 thinking it would be cutting edge needs to be seen by a doctor. I actually don't know why everyone's bitching about the price. It was pretty cheap for what it it, considering I bought 2000 Wii points for £14, and the game was 1500 points, I spent roughly a tenner on the game. Also, it's part one of many, and if you think that games like Sonic 3 were much more expensive when they came out at about £30 or £40 (and the price of games has not increased or decreased dramatically), I think it was a good purchase.
Changing the subject... has anyone at SEGA/Sonic Team made any public comment about the physics? I was kind of expecting (well hoping for) a "We've heard your complaints, we'll fix it for Ep 2" or something. /wishfulthinking
