No. But you can get the + - Super Sonic ending without collecting every ring in ESZ - you only need to do it during the ending. But you must be in Score Attack mode.
No. Time Attack takes you to a "Retry or Stage Select" screen after beating it on Time Trial. For this same reason I don't think you can get the Untouchable Achievement/Trophy since it pops on the results screen.
This image explains everything. On another note, I'll be buying S4 very shortly. Will be giving my first impressions very soon.
I'm probably the only one saying this, but all this fuss/talk/pictures about how Sonic stands on the sides of the hills or whatever feels like we're just beating a dead horse in the ground over, and over, and over again. Plus, it isn't that funny anymore, in my opinion. Again, that's just me. I don't mean that the talk of physics is getting old, it's just that whole standing, sitting, or whatever on a wall or something.
I played through most of S4 last night and finished it off today. I liked it, really. The final boss fight was pretty badass, though it took me a few lives to do, mega props to the guy who didn't get hit once through the whole thing so he could get the supersonic pose at the end. Also the pillar/torch puzzle in LLZ 2 almost became my new CNZ barrell. I'm still not used to the special stages though, I keep trying to control Sonic.
Maybe like if it were $20 for all the episodes, it'd be fairer, it's really short. I'm not hankering for a refund or anything, but it was a bit too expensive. I downloaded the ROM and played through splash hill, then decided to buy it. If you think you can put up with the wonky physics then go for it, I say.
If you think a game's price should justify it's length then no. But I don't really regret buying the game personally as I'm still having a blast with it.
It depends really. If you're willing to put up with the games physics and you can have fun with it I can say go for it. I love it, I've played through about 3 or 4 times now and I'd say I got my money's worth. However if you can't then I suggest wait for the price to drop. Even though it was worth it for me, $15 is still pretty steep for 4 levels, and I really wish they could have thrown one more in for shits and gigs.
It depends on how you view worth. As said, if you view it based on how long a game is, then the answer is no as you can beat Sonic 4 in an hour with the normal ending (even if the real fun in my opinion comes when you start replaying the levels). If you view it on fun, I think Sonic 4 is quite fun but then you need to judge if sometimes wonky physics can ruin the experience for you. The game has some great level design, but it takes a while to adjust too. I wasn't enjoying myself as I went through Splash Hill and Casino Street the first time, but I started warming up to the game 30 minutes of playing (in Lost Labyrinth) and started loving it in Mad Gear. It just took some time to warm up and now having a lot of fun with the game, having the ability for the stages to be still fun (and in many cases, more fun) even after several playthroughs. As said though, if game physics is directly related to how much you enjoy a game as opposed to other qualities like level design, you may be dissapointed.
So I've finally bought it and given it a short quick playthrough of Splash Hill Zone, and a little bit of Casino Street. I'm already in love with it. I'm too young to experience nostalgia from the original classic three, but I think this lives up to its name. The physics are a tad iffy, and I'm having trouble adjusting from the classic physics, but nevertheless, I'm still enjoying it. Do I think its worth the money? Definately. Is it shit? Absolutely not. Are the physics atrocious? Fuck no. Is it fun? Yes. Definately worth a go if you haven't played it yet. I'm just having trouble with Casino Street 3 - if I were playing this with the classic engine, I believe I'd have beaten it first try, but yeah. Definately not worth all the flack its getting from here.
Has anyone tried a no homing attack run yet? There are a couple levels I've played so far where it is possible, but the three I currently have found it to be impossible to beat without the homing attack are Splash Hill Act 3, Casino Street Act 2, and Mad Gear Act 1. Haven't played Mad Gear Act 2 or 3 yet though, and I didn't do Splash Hill Act 1 or 2 either However outside of a challenge it's not really that fun. Say what you want but the air dash/homing attack adds a lot to the game
I figured some of you here might like this: Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I - Part 1: The commentary as you truly imagined it! First part of a five-part commentary on Sonic 4 Episode I by BrainScratch Commentaries, including myself, Nayrman214, SomecallmeJohnny, and guest commentator Fastest Thing Alive (of FindTheComputerRoom.com and Hellfire-Commentaries). Shameless plug, yeah... just figured it relevant to the thread as it's essentially the four of us talking about our opinions on the game for five parts. Parts 2-5 will be uploaded over the next few days.
