I have little technical experience with 3D blast but I'll do some looking...

  5. yeah...its fucking great)

  6. Seeing both of those cutscene placeholders for myself was freaking hilarious.

Thanks a lot drx, for sharing S3D Beta with us.

    First things I've noticed:

Many of GGZ's areas are much bigger.
Some sound effect and music changes. Special stage and Rusty Ruin is most noticable.

Thanks a lot for releasing this, drx.

Here's the text for all the placeholder screens, which is stored in plain ASCII, by the way:
    Code (Text):
    1. CHAOS EMERALD COLLECTED SCREEN WILL   .            GO HERE                ..
    2.    NO CHAOS EMERALD COLLECTED SCREEN    .            WILL GO HERE              ..
    3.    EXTRA LIFE COLLECTED SCREEN WILL GO  .                HERE                  ..
    4.     GAME COMPLETED WITHOUT ALL CHAOS    .    EMERALDS SEQUENCE WILL GO HERE  ..
    5.      GAME COMPLETED WITH ALL CHAOS    .  EMERALDS SEQUENCE WILL GO HERE  ..
    6.      ALL CHOAS EMERALDS COLLECTED SO    .     MEET FINAL BOSS SEQUENCE HERE
    (OMG CHOAS EMERALDS)

I have a question about the dump, though... Shouldn't the ROM be smaller than the retail release? I thought it had three EPROMs instead of four, or something like that.

I thought it would be smaller since the 8th eprom had an uncovered window (which, added to sun exposure, means erasing the contents).

Turned out that the guy left the eprom just like that! Scary o_O

Nothing that concerns this place in the least.
I've noticed quite a few differences at the Green Grove Zone (that Yuski didn't point out). I WAS going to post some screens, but I got a bit lazy, so I'll list them, instead.

-At the beginning area, after you get finished spinning through the loop, you will find a Ring monitor in middle of the ditch, while in the final, it's missing.
-Rows of rings are missing from above the springs, while in the final, they're present.
-In the secret cave (that leads to the cannon, and Knuckles appearing), there is a regular shield, while in the final, it's one of those orange "Homing Attack" shields.

Heh, it's kind of neat. A few music changes I noted:

    - Sega sound is different
    - Both Acts of Rusty Ruin use Act 1 music
    - Both Acts of Volcano Valley use Gene Gadget Act 2 music
    - Both Acts of Gene Gadget use Act 1 music.
    - Both Acts of Panic Puppet use Act 2 music
    - The boses use the final level music.

Mainly a bunch of missing objects or different variations of objects.

Most of the music is different, as they loop differently.

GGZ is much more spread out.

    No purple flicky in VVZ

Only to name a few, typical of a prerelease, the good stuff is hidden in the rom...

  13. O FAWK, I already found a bug. I'm so proud.

As these screen shots will show, in Rusty Ruin Zone 1, there's something that I've dubbed "the yellow tile of doom". Simply step on this tile, and the screen. Totally. Fucks. Up.

The yellow tile that the wall spike is hovering over is the doomed tile.

The wall spike area 5 feet to the left of the doomed tile area seems bug-free.

Sonic points out the specific evil tile.

One step onto it, and you're in Fucked Zone 1.

And here is me, Sonic nowhere to be seen, forever stuck in the abiss.

The game isn't frozen at all. Sonic is just invisible, and stuck in a small "square", where you'll notice if you try to move around, the screen won't scroll too much. I've yet to figure out if there's a way out. I severly doubt it.

For the even more curious, I made a Gens+ input movie.
