Sonic 1 With Fries - Lock!

    Afti, make the spikes darker, and use a bronw-like color to give a rust effect.

    Can't go darker; spikes use Sonic's palette. That's the darkest shade available without making the player and enemies look shitty, which is worse than some ugly rust.

    May go with another idea for RRZ's spikes, though...
     
  3. Instead of using the dark red from Sonic's palette you could use the dark brown for the rust, as rust tends to look more orange than red. Even if it doesn't improve the rust much, at least people will stop thinking it's blood! =)

    ^ Yet, blood works considering it's the base of a fat, mean man.

    Also, you can make the spikes darker without editing palettes, editing the art itself. But well, that's up to you.

    No, I can't; the spikes are using the darkest shade in the palette they load. RRZ doesn't have any untarnished silver/greys; I can't use its palette.

    Blood doesn't work, because the base has been abandoned for years and is rusting and falling apart.

    Master Emerald, what if he plans on adding Knuckles? Then if it uses the same pallete placement, he will actually have spikes covered in blood.

    No Knuckles. No secondary characters.

    ...Besides, if I added one, it would be somebody you don't see all too often- maybe Bean, Tails Doll, or one of the ugly-ass birds from Riders.

    Left: Rust Realm's spikes now cause tetanus, not AIDS.

    Right: The reason RRZ couldn't have blood? It'd be redundant. Grand Gardens' spikes have the blood of all the idiot characters introduced since SA1 like Shadow, Big, and the impostors of the Chaotix coating them.

    This is the VERY WIP new lower background for Grand Gardens, which fits the theme of scaling the exterior of a flying fortress far better than some forest.

    Grand Gardens with something for a fortress in it insted of a garden?

    I don't know about you, but I don't think that fits at all well really, are you changing the level name or something?

    Grand Gardens never had a sensible level name; it's probably going to be changed.

    I want to channel SCD with my level names, though, so it's not really much of a problem. See: Wacky Workbench

    Ehh, I'm not sure about these blocks from SYZ. I just don't liked them, honestly. What I can suggest you is make the blocks darker and don't use a single 16x16.

    That's me, though.

    As you can see, I've yet to make an object layout; the level should develop more rapidly now that it's actually in a semiplayable state, though.

    SYZ backdrop is WIP; the wall will have more diversity later on.

    although one tiny gripe, the lives counter "x2" text blends in and is a little hard to read.

    I really like that grey sky in the left screenshot. :) Looks rainy to me.
    Other than that I like the art! :thumbsup:
