Not sure if someone made a topic about this, but a while a go, we all know Microsoft mentioned about the Games on Demand service, as well as a quick look into a possible list of launch titles. The weirdest part about this is, Sonic 06 might be a launch title for the service:

    http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/06/video-xb...demand-service/

Now, I know what you're thinking. It's still going to be the same shitty game - loading times, slow downs, etc - even when it's installed to the HDD it's still going to be slow. But here's the kicker. In a rumor from E3 (from Kotaku, ugh) - it states:

    http://kotaku.com/5276529/some-xbox-360-ga...emand-downloads

If this is true, and Sonic 06 is on the list for Games on Demand. Are we going to get a fixed version of the game?

Nothing in the article suggests it, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

The only issues that will be fixed are those that apparently arise when trying to play the game from your hard drive, directly downloaded from the Marketplace. I.e, issues you will never know about, and will be amended to make the game play no different than if you were playing it from a disc.

I would imagine that the extent of any noticeable changes will be a second of so shaved off load times (as is the case with games when you install them onto your hard drive), but nothing more significant than that.

No, they'll just be insuring it'll run just as shitty as it does currently.

I'd say if Sonic 06 gameplay was polished (no more stuck to walls, no more retarded sliding across the floor), drop the massive enemy overload and repetitive layout, fix Soleanna and the forest hubs, give some new animations to the characters (I cannot believe the homing attack or jumping on walls animation is finished), FORGET CARRYING ELISE THROUGH LEVELS RAWR, drop Sonic looking angry at everything and the romance thing altogether (dunno, friendship like Chris from Sonic X), it could work. There's a lot more problems, but these are the ones from the tp of my head. It is heavily flawed beyond the loading screens in my opinion but it does have good ideas just to fail when looking at the bigger picture.

I'm not seeing them doing it though.

Doubt it. This will most likely be the same game with minute fixes at best. Most people in the topic have already summed it up, as well.

  6. Do people even still play this game?

I am, however, intrigued. We'll just have to see what the future holds.

Why this Liefieldian abomination, and not Unleashed?

A little bit ago after the final Unleashed DLC pack I went and tried to play a little Sonic 2006 after a quasi-challenge issued by a friend.

However difficult it was to play before, it is now ten times as difficult because Sonic Unleashed is so different in terms of controls and mechanics.

Sonic 2006 is probably on the service because it attained "Platinum Hits" status, and the only games Microsoft seems to be placing on the Games on Demand service are "Platinum Hits".

The one where he's almost completely upside down in sort of a standing position? That's an animation glitch, he's supposed to spin in the air. This actually happens once in a while in the 360 version, but I don't think it works even once in the PS3 version.

I found this sentiment quite amusing.

You know, I'd be a great basketball player if I was taller. And could actually run kinda fast. And had some height on my jumps. Oh, and if I had some more stamina. And you know, I could stand to be kinda flashy in my play style too.

By exactly as intended, they mean it will work exactly like it would if you were playing a retail copy.

So basically... make the game from scratch?

I must be very unlucky then because if I don't remember him spinning...

It's not my fault the game sucks almost to hte core (IMO). :(

    The music is good though.

I actually want to play Sonic 06. I said it. I know it sucks, but I still really, really want to play it. It actually looks like it may have some resemblance of fun if the glitches and loading times can be ignored.

I can see Microsoft lowering the loading time (though I bet the loading screens will still be numerous), but other than that, I doubt anything else noticeable will be fixed.

  15. I've you've never played it, yeah, go through the story mode, and maybe even the amigo DLC stages. But don't bother yourself with most of the town missions, or anything else after that really.

I was saying the same as you until I bought it in January. When I played it however, I soon saw what everyone was complaining about. I took months to bother to fully complete the game (which is unusual for me) and I have no intention of getting all the achievements. The game is so bad that the idea of trying for S-Ranks depresses me. (That is not an exageration)

How much was the loading time cut when you install the retail version on the 360 hard drive? It'll probably be the same with this thing.

It will be exactly like the retail version.

No it's not Chimpo at all, it's going to be able to load under a millisecond, they would have ironed out all the bugs and you'd be able to play Supersonic whenever you'd like.

Yeah there really wouldn't be anything noticeable, if anything, changed.

You can't ignore bad controls though.
