Retro-Sonic News: Dreamcast Test Released!

Ehh.. it's not bad, but it has a fair few bugs (I know it's a test release though, so I guess it's kind of forgivable but you should've waited for a stable release imho)... It randomly crashed for me while walking in the test zone, and the DC went mad spinning the disc. Also, I went through quite a few walls which I shouldn't have in EHZ... and the boss' collision seems a fair bit off - about 16 pixels. Plus, with the boss, you can roll into him from behind and hit him 3-4 times in one hit. Also, the boss' death explosions routine takes way too long, I thought the game had buggedo ut on me. You should make it about half the time.

The sound is good, and the loading screens look kinda cool. As a side note; does anyone else get video problems (flickering black over the screen)? I don't get it on any other dreamcast games...

Keep going though, I'm sure with some work this could end up pretty damn good ;P

Oh, and why did you use the Bomberman music for the title screen? XD

 

Sounded like Sonic Shuffle to me. =P

 

Bomberman heroes, right? I also liked a lot the Jumping flash music for egg garden zone.

Right, so, I burn it using the latest trial version of Nero and using the lowest writing speed so as to make it a smooth transition, and all goes well. I boot it up, and get to the "select your display mode" screen. I select my display mode, and come face to face with my good old friend black screen of doom.

Suggestions? I'm running low on CD-Rs.

I can't wait to play this game. Seeing as how I don't own a dreamcast, I can't, but I would download it otherwise.

I find it odd though. Why did you release a Dreamcast test version before a PC demo.

 

For proof-of-concept, of course. Everybody knows the PC version is legit. :P

Oh ok, I won't offer constructive criticism. And without being arrogant, I'm fairly sure I could produce something of a similar standard, but I have more important things to work on, like my future career.

But with that aside, ignore the masses who say "RELEASE UNFINISHED STUFF SO I CAN SEEEEE", because the longer they wait the more they'll enjoy the eventual product for a few reasons - a) the anticipation builds, b) the more time you spend on the project, the better it'll be and c) you can keep interest by leaking little details like you were before.

 

No offence, but the art in that game looks like a retarted paint drawring.

 

No offence, but the art in Simon Wai's Comic To Beta looks like something lying in the toilet before I flush.

I would love to see your attempt at drawing something like that - and stop butting your nose into affairs that don't concern you, moron.

Also, instead of focusing on silly infatuations with stupid tarts who drop you in the shit for a penny and complaining to us about it, why not go back to school and sort out your spelling?
