I'm sure some of you remember my video showcasing Sonic's Schoolhouse from way back in, like, 2007 or so, and one showcasing a few weird unused videos on the CD. Well, I hadn't quite shown off everything I had noticed about the title...

Jump to about 0:59 in the first video (or click here if you're lazy). It doesn't play for very long, but listen to the music that plays before I decide to up and quit the stage.

Now listen to this track from The Even More Incredible Machine. Sound familiar? You don't even have to go far in the game to hear it; if you let the rolling demo run, it's the second tune played.

For some reason, these two games by two completely different companies (Sega and Sierra, natch) use the exact same MIDI file. I'm not sure if the file in question was just public domain or something, or if the two projects shared composers (unlikely), or if Sega blatantly stole the tune (also unlikely). Still, while it's not much, I nonetheless thought it was an amusing little piece of trivia.

I don't really think this finding was worth opening a brand new thread. I think such piece of trivia should've been posted in The Supreme Topic of 'Other' Knowledge.

Perhaps it was a public domain MIDI? If that's not the case, both games must have shared a music composer or SEGA could have been in real trouble.

I suspect they might have just hired the same development team for the job.
