I don't recall Aile saying anything about losing a life, which is how you would usually get a Game Over.

The most awkward part about this is that I had to go with you since you only have the permit. :argh:

Boy, if only lines of code were rewards of quantity in your preferred gender. I may not have a lot of complete things, but I have lots of code all over the place.

And yeah, SFGHQ games aren't really the same low quality (overall) that they used to be, back when I worked around there. I'm actually quite proud at how they've grown. Unfortunately, what comes with the ability to create a Sonic game "easily", they are actually starting to be a lot of games which, IMO, are ... "just another Sonic game." They play well enough, look well enough, but really aren't unique in any particular way. Kind of a funny era.

    Welp, this.
I imagine that fan games are not unlike art—there was such a push to get things as lifelike and accurate to the real world as possible, and once that was finally accomplished, there was the freedom to do surreal and unique work.

So once we finally nail "this is a Sonic game for the PC," I imagine there'll be more innovation.

Hi. That was actually my post, not muteKi's. ;P

The ASM has not been lost, no - see how S1 for iPod has been using the original code. Sega just threw it out there for a while as a reason why they were emulating rather than porting, but I suppose after the GBA utter hashup they decided it might be an idea to actually use the material after all, even though it took more effort.

The coders of this are quite obviously terrible. Even if you DID give them the ASM I'm willing to bet they'd have no fucking clue where to start.

  9. Holy fuck Stealth, I don't know ANYTHING about coding, so I can't judge at that, but the sheer ACCURACY of this port just blowed me away, to a galaxy far far away and then some!!
First I hear the perfect music. This quite frankly startled me already, cause I can be pretty bitchy about perfect music renditions, so um... I just HAD to try oddball stuff in this.
OK. I then try some different kinds of iffy slope jumps. They work exactly as they did.
OK. Down loop jump, as it's the only loop jump I can actually DO. :P Perfect!
OK. A weird something I call "magical speed boost" as it's the only way I can describe it. IT WORKS.
This is awesome, and with exception of the low resolution of GBA and the "VisualBoyAdvance" I felt as if I was playing the original 16-bit game on Sega Genesis. Awesome.

A few people have already started to do that, actually.

  11. Can this project get any more awesome? I THINK NOT ;) Well, at least till it's finished.

Can somebody up R11A Genesis and this Sonic GBA to a place where I can actually download from?
I'd like to sing praises, but 404 neterrors and the like sure do taint what I'm sure is an amazing project.

Fuck your referrer bollocks, copying the link makes no difference. It's a real 404 for me.

Yeah, same here. I followed the link, copy/pasted, hell, I even retyped the URL and it didn't work. So let's hope they come back up soon, I want to get my hands on this!

Sonic GBA should be on the wiki. You could check there for a link.
