Alright alright you've made your point. No need to bring out even more god awful artwork, spare me the torture of looking at those again.

 

Looks like Sonic will be the only playable character:

 

That image was made by a separate group with very few details on the game proper. The logo is there to evoke nostalgia.

That being said, I do believe we'll only get Sonic. Even though I'd like Tails and Knuckles a la S3&K, I feel now is a good time for a singular experience that focuses on Sonic's strengths and weaknesses by adapting the play and level design as such. The other characters can come in expansion packs or sequels; now is the time to really show how exciting the formula can be without adding too much to it.

 

Anyone else see how the top-most spine on Sonic's head isn't exactly the same in both images? It's easier to tell with that GIF of the two.

Or maybe it's just me.

Yeah I just went ahead and did it. Every little post counts and such. Even so, it turns out I had a SEGA pass all along, but never registered on their forums. In any case, I ended up just calling myself 'stupidloginsystem', in disdain for the problems and the fact I actually had to go and log in at their site to get the bonus questions. Seriously, not cool.

I just hope the surprise or bonus point isn't just another name off the list or something, because this suddenly has become very irritating.

I hope the next name marked off is Shadow, then I'll feel better about this whole thing.

 

It's just you, I've tried with different translucency levels, and the siluette fits perfectly with Sonic's form.

So... That's why I think Sonic will be the only playable character.

 

Yeah, I guess I'm just grasping at straws. Oh well.

 

Guys, Sonic's gonna be in there no matter what... Tails and Knuckles being absent, though.. that's what concerns me. It's true, they could also be "indisputably in the game", hence their absense (if this is true, this is a very good thing). If those of you are oldbies like me, and remember way, way back.. ALL the way back to 1990 and 1991, you'll remember that various character designs and names were being tossed about for SEGA's new mascot, and one of those early designs was a hedgehog named "Mr. Needlemouse", which was sonic's old nickname. I'd consider the two one and the same and not fret about him being another character like Shadow or Julie-su.

That being said... the game should be what Sonic Adventure 2 had as its unlockable level (if you beat EVERY SINGLE FUCKING THING in the game): a 3D rendition of Sonic 1 for Genesis... even 2.5 D (Rollercoaster Tycoon, Sonic 3D Blast, the Sonic Rivals PSP games), could work fantastically-well.

However, this is FUCKING SEGA we're talking about... ever since the Japanese wing of the company asserted control in 1997, they had a fail quota installed and written into every game and PR statement. Sure, the game might be great, but we should also ask... not IF they are going to fuck it up, because they WILL. no... we should be asking ourselves HOW are they going to fuck it up.. what are they going to do to the game to make it suck... or at least kick ass a bit less than it otherwise could have?

If your financial life depended on selling shit to the masses, wouldn't YOU try to convince them they're buying chocolate, instead of turds? That's perhaps Sega's best asset: they can market pure shit and make it seem good. :P

 

Their whole attitude to Sonic since his ghastly redesign seems to be "If it aint broke, break it and let's not fix it... ever".

 

I disagree, that attitude was set circa 2003 with Sonic Heroes and probably reached its full potential of suck whenever all of the SEGA studios got reabsorbed and realigned, which destroyed literally everything they put out.

 

Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 was the cherry on top of said sucking. I still don't understand how a pile of shit like it was able to pass and end up on store shelves.

 

Even though as a game Adventure 1 was pretty damn good, Sonics world and his image was turned to shit. That's what I was talking about.

Oh, that. I also agree, wasn't Sonic Adventure and everything after it supposed to be a "reboot" of the franchise anyway? That hasn't worked since it started, maybe they'll finally bring everything back to the usual status quo of the Genesis Era after Project Needlemouse possibly doesn't suck.

Please don't ever mention that game again. I was offered that game for £5 shortly after release. I thought I know it's not the best game ever, but maybe it's like sonic adventure. Some good fun levels just with pointless and uneeded extras. I was so wrong. I've not got through that game... can hardly be bothered to get through the first level. It just sucks...

Hoping needlemouse is back to classic, but after all the crap sega has put out I refuse to get excited. I reckon sonic n tails playable (but tails has to be unlocked) and knuckles as a character in the story. Proper sonic 3 esqe. Back to just before sega started to lose it.
