A Metroidvania KC would still be a platformer. I mean, most Metroidvanias are platformers.

Completely different design philosophies and goals. Granblu Versus and Guilty Gear Strive are both fighting games by the sane developer, but they play entirely differently. If you want a direct example, Rondo of Blood and it's direct follow up, Symphony of the Night. They're both platformers in the same genre, in the same series even, but they play nothing alike.

  4. Great news about Outrun so hope we finally get an Arcade perfect version of Outrun 2006 but with all the extras found in the XBox/PS2 games that were sadly taken out of the 360 version for Arcade Live memory issues at the time. Hopefully, we also get to see Scarlet Dawn come to SONY VR2 and get a proper new Monkeyball game. The likes of Kid Chameleon and Eternal Champions should be left to rot on the Mega Drive mind

Hope one day AM2 will look to make a Power Drift 2 at some stage

Yeah I linked that earlier on in the thread, weird in retrospect that a few actual arcade games were part of it. Out of the current crop I honestly think an arcade version of the new Crazy Taxi could work, the others less so though.

Out of the 5 games, 3 were Lindbergh arcade games.

Lindbergh games unveiling was 2005. Sega introduced its new PC based arcade hardware in regular interval every few years so far: RingEdge in 2009, Nu in 2014, ALLS UX in 2018. That was that I guess. Arcade hardware replaced by live service games based on old IP.

Yes, I forgot to mention Ristar before. I believe they’ll bring him back eventually anyway but still.

Wonder if they’d do 2.5D or full 3D. I’d prefer full 3D cause it would look beautiful. Plus I think you can do more in 3D.

Since we’re on the subject...how is pronounced? Is it “Ry-Star” as in rye bread or is it like the word Risk? I’ve always said it like risk.

Lee-star (with dental emphasis on the L, think the T in atom).
The Japanese spelling uses "リスター", which is pronounced "Lee-soo'tah".

  15. I think it's pronounced "Ree-star" considering the R in the title and the fact that there's not really an equivalent for the "L" sound in the Japanese language.

making cool music no one gives a shit about
It's gotta be "wris-star". He's a star that stretches his wrists.

So there’s no official pronunciation that’s known? Guess we’ll have to wait until Sega announces a new game haha. Wrist/Risk still makes the most sense to me.

I thought of a cool idea if they ever paired him with Sonic. He could grab him while he’s rolled into a ball and launch him into enemies the way they ricochet off him in his game.

I know it goes against Sonic’s traditional gameplay but we’ve already had a similar attack in Heroes.

  18. Rye-star would have led to a spelling like ライスター “raisutā.” Wrist-ar (or Ree-star - more accurate but sort of awkward to say) is the closest to the Japanese that’d make sense.

R is how られりろる sounds are romanized, but it’s just an approximation. The actual sound is phonetically close to what he described. It sort of sits somewhere between an R, L, and a D. So making an L with your tongue pressed against the teeth like he said will pretty much do the trick.

BlueSkiesAM2 has it. It's tucked away in the giveaway channel in the SEGA Forever Discord, but Danny mentions it there.
