Pattern load cue for the flash is #12. I'm not sure about the giant ring itself, because it's not compressed.

 

The giant ring seems to be loaded from at or around $1C518. (possibly $1C4E8) That's where the pointer to the art is, anyway. So it should be around there.

The code for that sprite is at $9E06.

$1C518 and $9E06 aren't even close.

 

Let me take this opportunity to be pedantic and say that it's "pattern load queue," not cue. Nemesis doesn't know how to spell.

It's a bad name either way. Level pattern list would have been better.

I think he means the flash from the ring, not the fade out flash. The flash from the ring is compressed art.

Look at the ring -- it's using the signpost graphics. Find a free space in VRAM to load the ring to, then have the ring read there instead of the old limit.

 

The pattern load cue and Animated Pattern load cue (or whatever it uses) will conflict because they keep trying to load art over one another.

Look at where Esrael put the ring and work from there. Reverse engineering code in order to write it yourself is a good thing, despite what others say. It gave me some really handy techniques that I now use on a regular basis.

 

No, it doesn't. Sonic 2 Delta does though, and apperantly he lets people build thier hacks off older versions of Delta. I have no clue WHY, but it's cool that he's generous like that.

So I figure he'd let you use the ring, as well as letting me and you use Knux.
