Whichever really. Either way, it's still a good idea to have a shortcut to reset or go back to the title screen itself.

Like I and Aquaslash have said already, let's not dismiss the pause menu completely and save the idea and mock-ups for a possible Special Edition of this project.

 

And now for something completely different, anyone know where to get a sheet of the stars used on the Starpost to enter the Special Stage?

 

It's only just a couple stars (there are two small stars used to make it seem like they're growing bigger) and one bigger one. The rotating effect is just varying they placement.

Just clarifying since it sounds like you're suggesting that the star circle itself was an animated pattern. If not, obviously disregard.

 

Excuse me--I "started" this? And fuck you for saying I don't make suggestions in the "proper' way—I've made plenty of constructive comments over the course of this project's lifespan. But when I try to make a comment that challenges some of the decisions made, apparently it's not "proper" anymore, right? If I challenge things politely I get shot down politely—at least making sarcastic remarks has got a legitimate response out of you—one that tells me outright to fuck off. And that's about all the confirmation I need.

And fuck you for saying I don't want to help. I absolutely want to help! And I fucking did! But, well, I guess having issues with something invalidates that, right?

I do nothing to discourage new contributors. If I see a piece of work that impresses me, I say so, and I offer constructive feedback on it. If you want to talk about discouraging, why don't you think about what you're doing now? When you have various contributors who have shown that their skill can be valuable to the project having issues with the way some things are going, don't you think that's worth addressing? You can ignore every bit of negative criticism you want, but I won't let you ignore me. I will be heard, and so will everyone else.

This can be settled in a much better way than you're handling it. I was completely fine with SANiK's last post, but you just pushed this further. I'm a perfectionist, and I'm a huge bitch. I won't let this go down without some sort of mutual understanding here.

No Malpass, it's not your fault. Don't worry about a thing. Suggestions are suggestions—they're bound to be thrown about, it's just what happens with them that counts. Don't beat yourself up over it.

There is no moving forward if you keep sweeping everything under the rug! This will keep coming back over and over again and will never go away, because the issues that have been presented here will be everpresent. You making a pretentious thread called "the bad posts" in which you censor opinions that you don't like does not constitute as any sort of solution.

 

If you're all going to be like this, make a separate forum for this project, much the same way that happened with Sonic 4 =/

Now, because I honestly feel disappointed by this, and I don't want to spend my last bit of free time in moving-reopening-closing topics with you, I can move back those pages of great interest to engulf the general project thread.

I don't think that's a good idea, because the Sonic Retro community is where we draw upon most of our talent base. If we isolate ourselves into another forum, we will lose contributors. The noise the staff receives is just something we will have to deal with I think.

I feel rather drained by this whole fiasco, so let us please please please bring it to an end. Please. You have been heard Tweaker.

All I want is for there to be a fair understanding of what this project should be about. If I missed the memo that said we were going to add arbitrary elements to the game, then I guess that's my bad. But when it comes to the core of this project, I don't think it should have any features that the original game did not; on the other end of the spectrum, creativity should not be discouraged, nor should alternative points of view on how the art could look be turned down. There are many people who have contributed to this project at one point but no longer wish to, and I think the reasons for that should be addressed.

That's why I want to suggest some sort of topic in which this can be discussed, in which everybody can come to some sort of consensus. Nobody likes to be told their opinion is useless; some will leave quietly, others won't. But the idea is that, as a community project, the community needs to be heard, not blown off.

Ok ok... Guys, back on the topic please, don't start talking each other that way... You two are right.

Like I was saying... We need a pause screen with a menu, pc gamers don't like things like the ESC to quit the game without a confirm button (Guilty Gear XX anyone?), I think that we need to do a simple but lovely menu.

 

While the issue of a pause menu may be an important one I think that we should say no for now and bring it up at a later time. There are much more important things to be dealt with at this time.
