    Agreed, and also I think the star itself could do with being slightly bigger too - notice that all the tips of the star actually touches the red wheel/circle

    I agree with the star looking a bit odd, perhaps something more like this would do?

    I've used a bit of "punch" effect on a clear star and modified the shine a little, so the thing would look more like a sphere.

    Also, I've removed something that was connecting the ball with the metal thingy, which would clash with the animation.

  5. Blast, I think the Starpost looks excellent. I happen to really like the way you did the star, although it seems I'm not in the majority on that. In fact, I'd vote to draw the lines to make the top point look as 3D as the other points.

    After comparing this with Iceknight's star, I agree with Fred that PP's version looks a little bit too much like a military emblem.

    I do prefer IceKnight's cartoony style star, except that it might be a bit too big (and I think the reflective shade at the top is a bit excessive).

    Remember that the thing on top was supposed to be a balloon of sorts, at least in every other Sonic game (including Adventure). I think we should try to avoid making it look flat like a "disc".

    The shading on the bottom part in the original resonates a V shaped style I think, whilst the revised version looks more U-shaped

    I'm with you here.

    By the way guys, remember: We're enhancing adding HD, not copying adding HD, Its fine to edit a little the art giving it a personal touch...

    Yes avoid the military star but add a silent gray edge and you're done I guess

    My edge was done using shitty-raster, and it's too thick.

    Cut it down a notch I guess

    I guess the star is lying on a curved surface:
    ( <-- the curve, sideways view

    So the ridges of the star may be showing due to this curve

    Sorry to interrupt the item workings, but the polls idea was really great to set a lead for the Items Art aspect, which still has no set direction.

    Level Objects should match the style picked for the overall game appearance. The emeralds can stay more glossy if people like the look of them because they don't appear in the standard levels so aren't likely to clash appearance wise.

    Despite the interesting debate about the texturing and details of the different levels, I think texturing needs to be applied with caution as although the feel given off by the graphics is very different between each level, the style needs to stay the same throughout all of the levels, otherwise common objects and possibly even Vincent's Sonic sprites will stand out too harshly (one of the reasons I was taking my tile making slowly and sticking to the original shapes leaving minor detail tweaks until the end, but that's a whole other matter now).
