Have you tried using any game development software like, MMF, or GameMaker, or Construct? They give you a chance to actually get into game development without learning code, and may in fact help you understand more about programming since you'd be introducing yourself to functions, variables, etc. I'm actually half way through Derek Yu's Spelunky book where he discusses these systems in his early days getting his ideas off the ground. So don't think because you don't code you can't do something... the difference is if you have no interest in these, then I'd be wary of implying you are making a fan game.

That aside, I think the issue you will face with these types of posts, is theres nothing tangible that people can see or play. Design of any sort, isn't created like a wikipedia entry. It's a creative medium, so think sketches, concept art, storyboards, scribbles.

I'd also be wary of language, if you have an idea then sell me on it. When, I as someone coming in blind to your project reads "..not very inspired, I shoved in a ancient ruins in it..." then I am immediately turned off. Sell me on why I should be wanting to learn more about your ideas. Don't sell them short, if you think they are good.

In fact, I expected this topic(s) to be either locked or even trashed when I was back. The last I expected was that unnecessary arguing that has become somewhat instructive with the last posts, so maybe this "how to handle your project and presentation" discussion is the worthwhile part of thread after all.

ForGloryKing, don't waste more posts in arguing, try other things while you're trial member and go back to your project when you get more used to the recommended procedures. The unwritten rule you're breaking is basically what I said before because of the foggy topics it creates, plus it works somehow as an implicit request for help that is also a bad idea for reasons I'm not really good explaining but include showing if your project is worth the valuable time others can offer to help.

I remember having a chat about this some time ago but I can't find the topic it was in since it wasn't specific for this question. We had an specific one about how to start writing your own game engine, though: http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=37317
