How severe is the input lag on the Game Gear games in Sonic Origins Plus?

I might want to give the Game Gear titles another shot and they are right there in Sonic Origins Plus in theory, but I've heard about input lag therein, be it in emulation or implementation of that into HE2, or at least more than what was perhaps originally present in this or that game that's thus getting added onto. Has anyone actually done some tests and definitively outlined how severe it is depending on the game? It seems like a jump takes at least a couple frames to come out in maybe each platformer, for example. Is it primarily S2, Chaos, Triple Trouble and Drift 2 that suffer the worst, unfortunately covering most of the platformers? I've also heard speculation it might be the same emulator as in SADX (not sure about Mega/Gems Collection) with some visual inconsistencies and generally lower quality (and stereo?) audio, so I wonder if that's always been a problem with it.

Also even in fixing the stereo audio effect problems (which I've additionally heard wasn't accurate to the original Game Gear stereo audio process or something) by providing a mono option without needing to set your system's audio to mono, S2 still has an obnoxious volume fluctuation with sound effect playing (at least w/ the Steam version) for whatever reason, which I'm guessing isn't in any other games.

A potentially good difference and perhaps only actual alteration made to the games themselves would be the slowing down of intense strobe effects in at least 3 titles, technically making them unique versions. Specifically, Labyrinth's power-up usage (which seems different to M2 3DS; perhaps not strobing at all unless that's the camera), S1's Sky Base Act 1 (M2 3DS looks like an in-between of that and the original) and S2's Crystal Egg Zone Act 3 (M2 3DS retaining fastness with darker colours). Not sure if there are other examples, as brief lightning effects in Triple Trouble and Drift 2 seem untouched. If you want screen-crunched, laggy, volume-fluctuating but strobing-free 8-Bit Sonic 2, look no further.

I'm guessing the answer is disappointing, but I'd like to make sure. A shame if so, can't have nice things like competent versions of these games and their different regional releases as a bonus to the Plus DLC, but Origins gonna Origins I guess.
