It's hard not to echo what's already been said about the piece Scanline. Truly impressive in every respect. Do you have any background in graphic design?

While I like the simplicity of the logo you've got going on, the HD seems to blend in with it almost too well instead of being given emphasis. I'm not convinced that putting a space between Sonic 2 and HD would have the same effect without going against the style you've created for it. We're trying to make this one stand out as a project far more than just Sonic 2 remade, and with the quality of the poster so far, I wouldn't want to see that detail lost.

The quoted phrase does nothing for me, but I can see how it contributes to the piece from a flow standpoint. I look at that more as the one place in the piece that more written work can be done to advertise/build hype for the project aside from 'Coming soon'. In any case, looking forward to what this evolves into :(

The fragment doesn't make a lot of sense out of context. I'd personally drop Coming Soon (not likely ;p) entirely to free up space for the full quote.

Not digging the brown and brown background too much either; I'd choose the black and gray shades of the old boxes instead if you want to go for a muted look.

Hey guys, thanks again for all the kind words. I think its shaping up well thanks to all of your advice.

In response to Canned Karma, to say I have a 'background' in graphic design would be grandiose to say the least. I am a university student studying animation - and I'm finishing in 5 months incidentally. However, I have studied graphic design in the past and been commissioned on a few occasions for graphic-based projects as well. Never worked in that industry though... not yet anyway - would be nice!!

You're good I must say. I finished a 1 year graphic design carrer, and now Im going for the 4 year carrer though... as a animation student, you seem to understand color theory, flow, and even fonts... really, as a professional graphic designer (yeah, I work sometimes at my freetime xD), I must say you have a very good talent inside you.

Though you're "shaping up well thanks to all of your advice." you said it. YOU're, and thats the point, not us, but you.

    Edit: Tyyyyyyyyyypooooo xD

We've been keeping an eye open for someone with the talent to do the ending sequence of the game, so your animation background would be of great help there! So far, there's only been a couple people who have done concepts for the ending... and as is the case so often with community projects, they seemed to disappear from the forum after submitting a couple of their works. Vincent and I have been talking about what we believe the project could best use you for, and while our ideas and your talents seem to line up extremely well, what do you see yourself being put to the best use as?

Welp... If you go to my Devart [link on my profile]... I can't remember if you said you'd looked already Canned Karma, but without blowing my own trumpet too hard [that's not a euphamism!], I feel my work is quite versatile and hence, wherever I work on this project, I feel I could have a worthwhile stab at it. Vincent has already sent me the stills from the ending sequence so I can redo one to pitch to you guys - I'll hopefully find the time to do one this weekend and as a heads up, I'm planning to sketch it by hand - a tonal, pencil sketch as I think that'll lend itself well to the mood and atmosphere of that section.

I mean, really, a list of things you could see me working on would be nice [and at the moment, all I can think of is ingame stuff] and then I could comment as necessary. I would love to do the tile artwork for a level or two - in particular, Casino Night and Oil Ocean when they roll around, I love those levels. Maybe some boss artwork too, there doesn't seem to be much of it up.

I'd like to point out that these next 5 months for me will be incredibly busy for me as well, as I'm working on a three minute animated film for my final university project, but of course, that doesn't mean I'll go completely dead on you guys either, I hope to follow this one through to completion, just that I may not be able to be as active as some of the dedicated members here, including yourself.

A quickly done 1024x768 'background expansion' [oops, sorry about the edges]

I'll do different sizes if you request them - although I wouldn't want to mess with the size of Sonic himself (obviously he'll get smaller when the background size gets larger); I'd rather leave that to the experts ^^

    I like.

Do a widescreen one though for those with widescreen resolutions =P

    Chimpo... Do I detect a cry for a desktop-ised Sonic 2HD poster?

Something a bit unexpected for the desktop wallpaper - presented in 16:10 ratio of course, I'll see about making a 5:4 one if there's enough demand. Taking a bit of inspiration from the opening level title cards - maybe a possible new theme for them? - Imagine smoothly scrolling layers and the like. Consider it!

Strongtly requesting 4:3; I'm stuck with 1024x768 at the moment, and I'd rather not have a stretched wallpaper. I despise widescreen monitors anyway.

Yeah, cool people use 4:3, therefore I'd like to see a 4:3 version of that wallpaper, too.
    I use 1152x864 instead of 1024x768 but still, 4:3 ftw :D

*Sigh* I thought 1024*768 got left behind in the 20th century... 16:10 is the future, but have it your way, CRT folk. ;P

That's looking very cool, but here's some suggestions to improve certain shapes. Please excuse the blurriness...
    [IMG][IMG]
    What's changed:
    -Pointier shoes.
-Bigger eyes with a sligthly different shape.
    -Thinner "eyebrows".
-Made the Muzzle-eye-eyebrow part in front of Sonic a bit flatter
    -Made his head smaller.
-Made his muzzle less wide than it was.
