Sonic Frontiers Thread - PS4, PS5, Xbox, Switch, PC

So Japan is also getting this Tailstube thing... I’m not saying we’re getting Frontier news here BUT the fact that this is multi-region def makes it more likely

So there's a Sega show going on around the 25th/26th. And it looks like they're talking about a certain something there.



Sega is also going to be at the Future Games Show 2022, also happening tomorrow on the 24th. Coincidentally, this should line up with this on the 25th in Japan, and whenever a planned episode of Tails Tube drops, sometime either tomorrow or Friday.

I'm not gonna say they'll show anything new at any of these things (Sonic's Twitter hasn't brought any attention to it), but it's seeming that something about Frontiers is bound to drop soon.

 

Uhh unless I’m missing something (& I hope I am) I don’t think sega has been confirmed for the FGS. The article just says that Sega has PREVIOUSLY been apart of it. Again I hope I’m wrong.

 

Ah, sorry. It seems that's more assumed, since they've been at past showings for it. So Sega's not confirmed for appearing there, but likely.

The Sega TV 2022 thing and the Tails Tube happening near the same time is definitely interesting though, whether or not FGS has anything to do with it.

 

Hopefully we see something about Frontiers, although I have a feeling the SEGA TV thing might just be them saying "this game exists please look forward to it" and nothing else

 

But would they add it to the lineup if they had nothing to say or show?

I'm not saying it's certain they'll show gameplay or a new trailer or something, but it seems unlikely to me that they'd add Frontiers to the stream lineup if they were just going to show a recycled trailer that's already available on YouTube. Surely they give at least some more spoken details?

7pm on the 25th in Taipei (when the show starts) is 7am EST, or 4am PST, on the same day.

 

I guess we can expect a announcement of an announcement... again. A confirmation like "Yeah, we're getting stuff after the movie, don't worry".

 

I'm fully expecting to see the same sweeping shots of realistic hills, with a static standing Sonic on a DIFFERENT cliff this time. It'll be glorious.

...What, you wanted more? I dunno man, Sega's been really just oversharing information about Frontiers. Just so much info-dumping. Way too much at once. We should be thankful they're slowing their roll, otherwise we'd truly be overwhelmed at the amount of content we know is in this game.

Overfed, that's what we are. It's not like an open world Sonic game needs a lot of time to unpack!

Not surprising, but it seems nothing of importance was revealed during the Sonic Station segment of Sega TV Taipei. They did talk about it for maybe 2 minutes, but that's all. I do have to wonder exactly what was said, but not sure if anyone will be translating that discussion into English.

 

When SEGA is ready to drop news on Frontiers, it'll either be telegraphed in advance like the teaser and GAs trailer, or it will be shadow dropped with a big fanfare, like several news outlets releasing previews and a trailer all at once. Until then, we're just going to have to wait. Although I would be surprised if that new human character teased in the first episode of Tails Tube isn't going to be in Frontiers.

 

Yeah, when I saw the Tails Tube thing drop yesterday with also no word about anything else, I pretty much accepted nothing was coming, lol.

It'll probably be sometime at the end of next month to early May at earliest that we hear anything. Maybe not even til E3.. if that even happens this year.

 

I would think E3 personally if you mean a big reveal, and ESA said they are planning to have a fully digital event this year, although no date has been locked in yet.

They're running a pretty late schedule compared to Forces, especially if we don't see anything tangible until June. As far as the character they teased, I'm really torn on that one. Seems like she could even be from Sonic Prime, considering we know next to nothing about the show. I'll be surprised if they go the human sidekick route with the games again.

 

Well they just dropped in a never before seen character along in there and she clearly didn't belong to the Unleashed cast. Verdict's out on what role she'd play, but if she's not in Frontiers, then what is she in?

 

She also looks like she was designed by Yuji Uekawa, so I think she's definitely a new character for Frontiers. I don't think Uekawa is working on the Sonic Prime series

 

She looks to be an explorer of some sort, considering the color scheme of her outfit. Maybe they brought up the two worlds thing to reinforce she's from the mainland, here to research developments on these islands?

 

I just need to see another trailer so I know how excited or disappointed I need to be

Weren't there rumors about a pink-haired girl being a major part of the story?

 

Sorry but, what new character are we talking about? I haven't seen anything relating to "her".

Edit: Ah nevermind I found it. It could just as well be a concept for a character that never got finalized, to be honest.

 

I think she's almost definitely either new or important to something coming up. Ian Flynn tweeted "#KnowingSmile" before the livestream, seemingly an indicator that he knows something we don't. But then, he tweeted the same hashtag AGAIN in reply to a picture of the character, right after they had just revealed the design.

As far as the resemblance to Uekawa's designs, I can kinda see it. If she's actually from Forces, that'll be interesting. Did we ever really figure out what the deal was with the "ghost girl" supposedly in Frontiers? Because this character doesn't look very ghostly.
