Now that's a great lineup of companies right there. Even if we don't get news on the next Sonic game (and we probably won't, let's be real), I'm guessing we can expect a lot of great announcements.
The June 23rd date has got to be a coincidence. A fun one that SEGA might take advantage of, but a coincidence all the same. This isn't their exclusive event. If there's any Sonic news, I would bet that they've planned to distribute the news during NGPX. They've been holding on to whatever news they'd planned to share at the SXSW panel for a couple of months, so it seems reasonable that once this event entered the pipeline they started to plan to make it the new platform. Could be a game, could be memes. I'll be surprised if there's no Sonic info of any kind. But of course, SEGA haven't announced anything about this event other than that they'll be attending so there's nothing to get upset about if there's no news. Guaranteed there'll be at least one person in any community who loses their shit if there's no news though...
It was almost entirely anime. SEGA had just one title in the main presentation, that being 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, and it was shown for about 4 seconds in the closing montage. No sign of Atlus either. All in all not bad for what it was, but it was incredibly niche. If you're not an anime guy, don't bother. Like, I do get that this was all Japanese developers and their American branches (and WayForward for some reason), but the lack of any visual variety on show was stunning. I couldn't tell you what games were shown off here because they almost all looked the same to me.
And all it'll be is playthroughs of Catherine and 13 Sentinals =P Ah well. Idol Manager looked amusing, and itch.io says it'll be $15 when it's done with the current $25-beta phase, I might pick that up.
