What? No, put another one of those flippers on the ceiling and together they'll make a trap door for the horizontal tubes.
The beta version of Palmtree Panic past would be perfect if not for the unfinished version of the guitar solo that just sounds... amateurish.
So "Salad Plains" is a riff on Super Mario World's "Donut Plains", right? Like, Mario's fat and likes Donuts and unhealthy stuff and Sonic is fit and athletic and likes stuff that's good for you? Maybe I'm reading into a dumb name a little too much.
Western Sonic lore actually has Sonic eat nothing but junk food. But he runs so fast he burns off the calories! "What do the kids like?" "McDonalds"
I was also reminded of "Donut Plains", although I didn't give it much deeper thought. Hahaha, nice analysis. Whaaat? Blasphemer, that was the best part! Besides, it sounds just like the mid section from the PCM version to me, except in guitar form
As well as being overpowered, in the 0.02 prototype, holding a spindash causes Sonic to slowly move left or right. If you're next to a wall, he'll move through it. While I'm not sure there's much practical use for this bug (given Palmtree Panic doesn't have many walls to begin with), it does mean it might be possible to obtain every ring in the stage without resorting to debug mode.
Question, how do you access the good future of PP1? I've seen the post with the instructions for PP2, but didn't see any for PP1.
The notes are different on the ending and are better on the PCM version but that doesn't make the CDDA version amateurish at all.
The 0.51 prototype - the one between the old 510 and 712 builds. It's the first to have working special stages. I use a loose definition of "working". Because winning or losing the game basically soft-locks, I don't think the remaining six special stages can be accessed legitimately. Do they exist?
The notes are different on the ending and are better on the PCM version but that doesn't make the CDDA version amateurish at all.[/QUOTE] Overall the CDDA version is far superior save for the different notes. They just scream WIP melody. The backing keyboard in particular has more variation and it's sad that was lost. The guitar vs sine wave instrument I am impartial to, they are both good instrument choices. I'd like to hear the CDDA version with the sine wave
I love how the CD quality version of Palmtree Panic Past fixes the one thing I've always hated about it: How the main flute instrument emits some high ear-piercing tones* when hitting the lower notes by the end of the song. *May be only noticeable on real hardware and by certain ears
omg...y'all don't understand how happy this makes me. i love new betas!! i can't wait to check these out. thanks. EDIT: salad plain zone is really sending me lol
Presenting: the hardest design decision in Sonic CD. 510 0.51 712 Final So rigid were they when designing layouts that, rather than remove what is clearly a stupid block of tiles, they attempted four times to fill the gap with something interesting. And they still failed!
The biggest problem I have with the PCM version is how slightly offkey the flute sounds on every note, especially the last high pitched sustain before the loop.
I'm willing to bet that the original design document had something way more interesting which couldn't be implemented for one reason or the other...
Well, they had to replace the antlions with something. At least on Fusion I've noticed that it's random whether it crashes or not, so if you keep reloading a save state made just before the world ends, it sometimes gets through. EDIT: Here's 2:
It can be heard on VGMPlay too, but never noticed it until you mentioned it. Thank you for making my life more miserable now.
Oh yeah, I forgot I looked through the special stage data for 621/0.51 while I was digging through it earlier, and saw all the backgrounds in it, so yes, I would assume every stage is in.
