I actually never was a member of CulT. If he actually posted it (aka I'm not entirely remembering this wrong) it would have been on the Retro forums. But if no one here recalls it or has a better way of searching for it, I'll probably just drop it. It's very possible I'm just mis-remembering, haha.

A fan asked Iizuka about it on Facebook. Basically it was just an early design of Super Sonic:

 

Both screenshots seem to be different versions of the very same scene, even...

Maybe they just feared that Toriyama would sue at first, before realizing that nobody owns "flashing hair transformations".

 

I don't see how "Nazo" being an early Super Sonic design for Sonic X makes any sense, considering that the trailer he appeared in featured Super Sonic in his standard design as well. Also, said trailer treated "Nazo" as being an unknown form or character, seeing how it attached the word nazo (mystery) to him.

 

Wasn't "Nazo" just the name of the file someone posted, and everyone ran with it ?

 

Yeah, there was no trailer that billed it as a different character. The person who uploaded the picture in the article(?) where it appeared just didn't know what it was so it was named "mystery"

Huh. I could swear the word nazo/mystery came from the trailer. I stand corrected, it seems my memory was playing tricks on me.

 

I believe that might have to do with this. Even in S3K, the logic for checking if the character exited/entered the water is skipped if they're hurt. Notice how Knuckles doesn't cause that 'water splash' graphic to appear when he exits the water? Makes me wonder why that guide is listed under 'design choices' rather than 'bugfixes', really, if it can prevent stuff like this.

 

Because it could potentially give you a REALLY SILLY jump arch if it were to happen close enough to the surface.

What's weird is when you get hurt outside of water and then fall in: you drop like a lead weight.

 

Sorry if this is already known. Try searching for "Sonic the Hedgehog" on Google. An info panel should appear to the right of the results, complete with an animated and interactive sprite of Sonic from Sonic 2!

I guess I am that lazy I guess. That and its my fault that I never noticed since I use my phone for internet anything these days. It was in the back of my head...now I am scared to look.

 

I just noticed this, and I don't know if it has been already posted but:
In the mirror's reflection here, in the SA1 ending picture of Amy's story on DC, you can see Amy's ingame model without the CG edits. The hands and fingers aren't connected, the eyelashes don't cast shadows, no shading on the hand, no mouth, octagonal dress etc.

 

Ha, well-spotted! Now I can't stop staring at the NPC walking behind her with his janky shading and low-poly limbs. :v:

I wonder if the DX versions of these images were touched up or edited at all?

 

Nope, none of these end pics were edited in SADX. The one from Super Sonic's story still depicts the Chao in their blue/green color scheme from SA1DC, rather than their blue/yellow scheme from SADX and official art.
