I don't want it on Spotify. I want to own this music. I want to treasure it for years and years without worrying about license agreements expiring.

Tee and the Mania team deserve that.

If there's one thing Sega is good at, it's making Sonic OSTs available pretty much everywhere. Mania's OST getting released on a large chunk of music platforms is a matter of when, not if.

    EDIT: NO ONE SAW THAT.

Regarding the Switch version and promotion of "Mania": I really hope the launch trailer (presumably releasing on the 14th or 15th) Aaron mentioned at the Comic-Con panel also gets uploaded on Nintendo's official Youtube channel.

As many folks have mentioned on here, the first trailer for "Mania" has 5.4 million views on Nintendo's channel, double the amount the same trailer does on the official Sonic Youtube channel. "Mania" (and likely most/all other third-party games) clearly has a higher profile and is seen by more people by being on Nintendo's channel. It's also impressive that the first "Mania" trailer is the 13th most-watched trailer in Nintendo's Youtube channel history.

Although clearly PC, PS4, and Xbox One have much larger install bases than Switch currently does, I still think it's a very important platform for "Mania." Not only does a game like "Mania" just feel more at home on a Nintendo system, but it also of course is the only portable version. I imagine there will be quite a few people--myself included--who are getting "Mania" on both PC and Switch in order to have a version they can play with a Genesis/Saturn controller and a version to play portably. (Or if they're a console-only player and have a Switch, I'd imagine many in that category would be opting for the Switch version since then they get both a way to play on their TV/monitor and a portable version.) The most recent public sales numbers for Switch come from Nintendo themselves: 4.7 million units globally as of June 30th. That means they're at about 5.3 million as of now, and will be at about 5.6 million by the time "Mania" releases on the 15th. I imagine they'll have a decent hardware push right before "Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle" comes out on the 29th (two weeks after "Mania"), and of course they'll have several big hardware pushes leading up to the release of "Mario Odyssey." They should be at around 7.25-8 million units sold by the time "Odyssey" releases on October 27th, and are easily going to pass 10 million units sold by December 31st of this year. That's a decent sized user base to be selling to, especially one that is eager for good games to fill the gaps in-between Nintendo's major releases.

I was bewildered when the "Mania" pre-order trailer wasn't in Nintendo's E3 conference or uploaded to their Youtube channel, but in retrospect it doesn't seem like Nintendo has hardly any "pre-order" trailers on their channel. Also "Mania" wasn't and still currently isn't available to buy on the Switch eShop. (Games on the Switch eShop don't seem to become available to buy until their release date.) A shame since that trailer is so great and deserves to be seen by as many people as possible.

Anyway, yeah, really hope the launch trailer is also posted on Nintendo's channel and that there is decent promotion/word-of-mouth about that version of the game (in addition to the others--especially PC and PS4). Definitely deserves it!

On the subject of a portable Mania. Obviously there's the Switch, but is there any word on whether or not this will run on a Windows tablet? I don't know if there's any 3rd party programs that allow touch screen control interface with regular games. If so, Mania could play similar to the remasters.

I've been told that the Switch isn't capable of prepurchases.

I love SIA. I'm good with Tee Lopes making the music for Sonic now and forever though.

Yeah, I'd believe that/it certainly seems to be the case. Bizarre considering every other major platform allows it--including the 3DS. I'm sure they'll eventually add support for pre-orders in to the Switch eShop.

But yeah clearly Nintendo would be fine with posting a launch trailer for a Switch game from a third-party dev/publisher--let's hope at least that happens!

It'd certainly run on a Surface Pro, but yeah I have no idea if there would be a way to play with optimal controls. The Switch is definitely the easiest portable solution.

There's a lot the Switch isn't capable of. Great as it is, Nintendo clearly rushed it out the door when the Wii U started to flatline.

I have the option of getting Mania on either Steam or Switch myself, and I'm going with Switch for the reasons stated. I agree, Nintendo needs to make this a high profile title on their system.

I realized that the far left Hard Boiled Heavy, the one armed with a Shruiken will most likely appear in that level that was "Oriental-Snow" themed, the image on the bottom right of the developer manual. The magician one though, with the apparent top hat, I'd have assumed would appear in Studiopolis but we already the other one for that zone so perhaps we will have a more casino themed level as I doubt it would appear in one of the remake zones since so far the Hard Boiled Heavies only have made an appearance in the new zones so one could assume there will be perhaps 5-6 new zones in Mania.

Has there been any/will there be any announcement that Mania has gone gold? I'd imagine the devs wouldn't have too much time for cons of they are still in release crunch.

Mania's done, but that doesn't necessarily rule out a day 1 patch.

Pretty much this, always gonna be that bug or two that slipped through the cracks. Mania probably won't have a massive file size though, so I doubt it'll take more than a few seconds to update.

Taxman said they don't want to have a cluttered mesh of themes. So im guessing for the sake of keeping things fresh, we'll get a different theme for each HBH. And who says its a magician? Other people can wear top hats y'know. That's racist.

All the patch adds is a hidden 10 hour loop of the dancing Eggman from Studiopolis with the HBH Theme whenever you try imputing a cheat from the first 3 games. :eng101:

You're kidding, but this happened with Sonic Robo Blast 2 once. They ended up repackaging the whole game.

Then in that case I totally hope that Hard Boiled Heavy is a British Gentleman and that we have a Tea themed level. B)

  19. It could be a wooded Victorian setting. Not gunna lie, I'd probably enjoy any zone with a Tea-oriented theme.

To be honest, out of all levels on Sonic Colors, I enjoyed Sweet Mountain the most so having a 2D themed level of that style, such as it being water based but the water being tea and the sugar cubes being something to keep yourself afloat, really seems like a fun idea to me. I'd just love to brainstorm with Taxman on level themes.
