It also says nothing about timings, either. He could easily have disappeared directly after the previous game in the series and then there be a time gap during which time the setup for the game happens.
Something I've asked myself looking at that poster... What is the visual difference between the dog and wolf avatars? With the simplistic cartoony character design I'm wondering how the two will be differentiated. Like... is the OC from the trailer the same species as the one seen on the E3 poster? Maybe I'm just thinking about this too much
I think the wolves will have pointed ears and fangs while I bet the dogs will have droopy ears and no fangs (I don't think we've seen dog yet)
It was almost a year ago that that leak came about though. Things change. The important part was that the custom character detail was leaked. The name could easily have been tentative, along with the supposed title of Sonic Wars. Buddy is merely generic - the other characters keep referring to them as Rookie instead.
People are still complaining about Green Hill returning. A lot of you continue to say this incarnation is unoriginal or uninspired, but the developers have clearly made this one stand out from the others. A lot you think that Green Hill's degrading isn't original. Also, I don't get the complaints with the level design being uninspired when the Avatar character's version of Green Hill has plenty of alternate paths and shows how the different Wisps and Wispons are used.
Also from the looks of things, wisps are only given to the avatar. Classic and Modern have shown no signs of wisps outside of boost wisps. So for wisp haters, good news, they're only in 1/3 of the game (and they appear to be executed far better than in previous games)
So far we haven't really seen that much of the wisps. We've only seen White Wisp (aka Colours Boost Power) and Burst being used, and Burst works pretty much like it did in Colours DS. Which is good, the wisps were much better executed in Colours DS than Generations' Planet Wisp/Tropical Resort and Lost World. It also doubles as a flamethrower for the avatar. But wasn't there also some kind of lightning power shown in the last trailer, at around 0:46? Which wisp could that be?
It's the Ivory Wisp, which let you use Ivory Lightning in Sonic Lost World 3DS. The corresponding Wispon is used as an electric whip. There is also the third Wispon that was shown in the poster. It seems as if it might use the Purple or Violet Wisp, although I may be wrong.
The Avatar seems to use actual Wisp drops very differently than Sonic did in the past, and the Wispon weapon doesn't seem to drain any energy so you have a varied primary attack depending on which one you have equipped. But then Modern Sonic's stage has only shown him gaining Wisps that give him Boost, nothing else.
The more I see of this game the more my hopes are going up. I will say this though, I'm disappointed the creator and director of Gravity Falls were not involved in helping with the story direction of the game. I guess they were at Sega for another thing? Ken Pontac and Warren Graff being involved is the only dark cloud hanging over Forces for me.
Let's hope Ken Penders doesn't copyright all of his custom characters if he finds this game. :specialed: On a serious note, I must agree that this game is starting to look better and better with each trailer now. Those boss battles look like they could be quite fun, Green Hill looks to me to be getting some Launch Base Zone style thrown into it and the new villain looks like he has an interesting design. Also worth mentioning, Chaos looks so cool and bloopy. :3
Penders is probably the reason why we're not getting echidnas, and if we make anything that can resemble the other characters he's claimed I am sure he will try to sue Sega. I know that sounds crazy but he's already sued Archie and won.
Yeah no, again, if Sonic Team wanted to put in echidnas, they would, Penders be damned. The only reason Penders got his way with his bullshit lawsuits is because Sonic and SEGA refused to get involved, and Archie is criminally mismanaged and incompetent (read: we still haven't got a new Sonic comic after half a year of it being "totally not dead you guys"). The reason there's no echidnas is that all the echidnas died except one. (Uh, assuming Infinite's not an echidna)
I might be alone in this, but I found the recent trailer really fucking funny. The words 'a new evil appeared' and I initially thought uh oh, what, who's the new monster of the week. But then when I saw Shadow's stamped foot I didn't really know what to expect. And then when Shadow's ridiculously menacing face took up the screen, and the music went all dark and edgy, I almost lost it. It was so funny! I was thinking 'why is Shadow so edgy again, this is hysterical' and 'why is Shadow bad, is he the new evil' in simultaeneous bewilderment. Then Metal appeared which was cool but perhaps a bit OTT. Then Zavok, all I could think of is 'God not lame Bowser'. And then: Chaos! I just thought 'wut'. To be honest, while I was a bit bewildered by it all and thought it was hilariously edgy, I did think it was kind of cool, I love all these characters, well, other than Zavok xD And then when Infinite appeared, I nearly fucking lost it! It's another version of Mephilles! What the fuck happened to Eggman as the main villain? I can't wait to see Infinite betray Eggman! I have to be honest, I've found Forces unintentionallh hysterical. It's like a trainwreck fanfic, I'm definitely going to buy it now.
The more I think about the plot, the more convoluted it seems like it's going to be. Like, Sonic '06 convoluted. This version of Classic Sonic is from a parallel universe, but his main self already been established to be a younger Modern Sonic. Unless this alternate Sonic is somehow experiencing his youth at the same time that the main Sonic is experiencing his adolescence, then Classic Sonic is both from a different world and the past. That or he's the same age and just never changed in appearance for some reason. Well, if we're dealing with time travel and parallel dimensions, they could just make up a reason for why echidnas still exist, even if only for this game. Knuckles is canonically 16/17, so unless he came into existence some special way, there needed to be at least two other echidnas alive about 18 years ago.
here's a weird idea, what if for a twist, "Infinite" is actually completely subservient to Robotnik and doesn't turn on him? (Screw calling him Eggman in a setting like this) Very unlikely I know, but it would make for a much needed change in the formula that was set up since Adventure
A recurring trend I'm seeing with Forces is "Hey, why can't they do / not do X like Y?" "Didn't Z already do that?" No offense to Casshern's post specifically, moreso highlighting the fact that it does feel a lot like Forces is less learning from the past and more like they liberally grabbed all sorts of shit from past games and are jamming it together. It kinda feels.. experimental still, rather than confident.
