If it weren't for Gene's statement, I'd have 100% pessimism over this. Hinting at classic Sonic doesn't mean anything to me when their comprehension of the classic series is comparable to Chris Chan's comprehension of art. If it's not classic Sonic, then it's pretty much guaranteed cheap shallow garbage at this point.
You better be right, Gene. I'm trusting you.

Interesting to note: messing with brightness/contrast/levels revealed that, for some reason, presumably on the page under the same numbers & symbols were written, even larger (except the 00 are the same size?). Unless this is just a weird side effect of fucking around in an image program....

If I slide the brightness and contrast around on the source image I can sort of see what look like other numbers/symbols above it all? Just bringing it up so that someone more knowledgeable with this kind of thing can take the mantle. Likely just means the hint was practiced, as opposed to there being a hint on the page under. :v:

    Watch 3-21-00 be a countdown. 3, 2, 1, 00. Happy New Year kids.

Meanwhile 4+1+16+7+3+21 (also + 00 but you know how much that adds) = 52. Which is 25 backwards. Happy 25th, everyone.

I don't even know what could be in those first two parts of the __/__/00 bit, really. Nothing seems to fit it.

    Agreed.

To be honest, I'm done with this guessing game. Just let me know when they've revealed it. We should all do the same and then the troll won't be fed and will cut it out. But as the troll knows and as we all know, most people here are still going to keep guessing and obsessing.

My game with an extremely long name!
What if he's thrown you all for a loop and is using the non-American date format to reference something? I'm not entirely sure though, considering it's late, I got a terrible night's sleep last night and don't know all the numbers.

Also, no SA3. Cri errytim. And just one more (really off topic) question, was I the only one who had a really laggy and floaty version of Colours? Everyone praises it so much but to me it played terribly. Sonic had a far too big hitbox, moved too quickly in midair, had huge input lag and was almost impossible to play, especially after the control over practically everything the Adventure games had.

Anyway, hopefully we get to the bottom of this quickly, or that Reddit topic does. *shakes fist* Curse you, Ruby!

I wasn't too keen on Sonic Colours either, although I haven't played it for too long. As in, I never completed it in the end. I just didn't like the Colour aspect of it. That's why I prefer Generations (and Planet Wisp isn't too bad in that game seeming as it's only 2 colours). Also, the bosses were all the same and boring.

So, no, if it turns out to be Sonic Colours 2, I wouldn't be too impressed. I'd still try it out (unless reviews tell me otherwise).

Who knows, maybe it's not a sequal to anything. Maybe it will turn out to be a brand new Sonic game. It doesn't have to be Sonic Adventure 3 / Sonic Heroes 2 / Sonic Generations 2 / Sonic Colours 2 / etc...

I absolutely despise Colors. It's lineal, bland, full of empity allevays to bowl eggpawns in 3D and blocky generic platforming in 2D ( too much of this) and boring for me. And Sonic's characterization makes him look stupid.

If the 25th anniversary game IS SA3 I'll be really happy. Although I don't know if that will do any good for the image of the franchise. But I'll love it anyway.

And it's my favourite 3D Sonic game and second-favourite Sonic game full stop. :v:

I don't want a Colours 2 either, though - we already got that in Lost World.

  14. I going with a different take on that image besides the numbers. What if we get the remastered version of "Sonic 2" ported onto home consoles/"STEAM"? And back to those numbers. I thought that was a "1" in front of the zeroes so I put in my calculator 4/100 == 1/25.

EDIT: Or maybe he knows about the "SegaSonic Bros." leak. He does go on here you know? Sonic and Tails are "bros." and the Sonic Japanese merchandise is "SegaSonic The Hedgehog".

Colors was the game we needed at the time; a title that proved Unleashed was half-way on the right track and further developed and refined the formula. It renewed faith in the franchise and is still the most open 3D title in terms of the color powers opening up alternate routes.

It played its part for the time, and most people abstained from bad-mouthing it at the time because it was really the only thing we had at the time. But then Generations came, nearly perfected the modern formula which opened up the conversation about Colors' shortcomings.

I haven't gone back to the game since its release, but I recall the jump being stiff, the arc being too high and too little horizontal distance. Also I hated how they turned quick steps into basically its own segmented sections. And, as we all know, there's way too much 2D and not enough strong 3D sections.

Too bad 25th Anniversary isn't SA3. Oh well. I just hope they revert and finally perfect the Generations formula with the freedom of movement of Lost World.

Generations had excellent high-speed maneuvering, and eh low-speed controls. Lost World had great low-speed controls, fantastic range of movement, but no momentum and no sense of high-speed. If you look at the improvement in controls between Unleashed and Generations, not only would this kind of shift be natural, but actually somewhat expectable.

Colours gets most of its praise simply for not being offensively bad like past several games before it. Graphically it's great, artistically is beautiful, it's music is wonderful and tonally it's polar to the worst of the series. On a gameplay front it's incredibly difficult to defend. Clunky and boring are the only words to describe it. I don't like it either. But it's not buggy. It's basically Unleashed Wii 2 sans Werehog, and Unleashed Wii is abysmal.

Thing is, even if Generations is much better with both of its gameplay types, Sonic still doesn't control naturally. Lost World gets it even more wrong. Whatever the next game is, and regardless of it being the 25th anniversary or not, I hope they can finally get the controls and level design right. They've had so long to work on it and SEGA keep harping on about quality right now, so hopefully they'll final lot deliver.

I honestly think the two concepts are pretty oxymoronic; at least at the levels of speed that Generations/Unleashed/etc. operate. Maybe a happy middle-ground could be reached, though.

I'm also gonna disagree on the front of Lost World's controls being good in any way, but that's not important.
