Yeah, to me that screams 'parody'. It's the same pose and shading style and everything. And it's even kind of an outlier in the aesthetic of the other artwork.

All of the artwork he did for this doesn't go well with the normal game's style.

  9. So in a similar vein to Mickey and Oswald, I take it this is Sonic's younger brother.

It looks like he took this drawing as reference for Slim Fast Werehog

Excuse me while I hurl. I didn't think the Adventure style could get worse.

Also, didn't he help Uekawa with the art for Adventure,? Maybe that wasn't his style to begin with. Noticed how Uekawa changed his style after Oshima left.

I got excited for a split second and thought maybe this was the Mighty no. 9 / Yooka-Laylee version of Sonic. Alas! I don't mind this design to be honest.

    Is... Is he trollin'?

    ...n-no.... No...

....no. Just... what the hell. I somehow was expecting something unique to be honest. I mean, "Blinx: The Time Sweeper" came out pretty unique by comparison, and as I understand it, he was in charge of that (in fairness, it says he was the director, not the designer, but that's besides the point). This has gotta be a troll of some sort.

I still haven't thought for a second that he was trying to make anything but an obvious parody here...

You know, like that totally-not-Sonic boss in Illbleed and stuff.

  16. He has fangs and his color is grey.
Maybe we finally found the character design Kalinske claims to have rejected?

Wait, he also claimed that he made Sonic blue?

  18. He claimed he rejected a "more goth" Sonic.
    Grey's a pretty goth color.

This character is almost like a parody of Tom Kalisnke's "rejected Sonic".

  19. That's pretty funny. That pose makes him look like a drunk looking for the next drink.

Anyone thinking this is mocking the Sonic Adventure style should go through Ohshima's Facebook gallery. Maybe then we can finish this claim that Uekawa is to blame for the Adventure art style when it's very clearly Ohshima's.

    THIS is Uekawa drawing.

This is Uekawa drawing Sonic. Notice the stiff posing. Notice the use of straight lines in things like the hands. Lots of guidelines to make a figure that loses some energy but is flawlessly sculpted in tridimentional space.

Comparatively, we can say he draws like a Japanese animator. In fact, remember- he was involved with Sonic X.

    THIS is Ohshima drawing.

There's almost a repulsion to using straight lines. Poses don't make sense and that doesn't matter so long as kind of a circular motion is achieved. Metallic painting. Angry looks and tons of fangs (which, incidentally, is one reason I don't buy the current "there never were fangs in Sonic and Kalinske's a liar" theory).

Comparatively, we can say he's a grafitter.

This is not Ohshima mocking Sonic Adventure. Ohshima IS Sonic Adventure. It's no coincidence starting with Adventure 2 the artwork in Sonic started looking more "controlled".
