I got the jackpot in the daily roulette for the first time yesterday! The rewards was quite the amount of rings. Handy! Edit: In other news, Easter Event Ranking results are up. I haven't checked the game yet, only seen the notification. I'd think it's safe to assume that there will be prizes, similar to weekly and weekend rankings.
So I spammed the roulette wheel and got the Easter Egg chao, AFTER it was of any use to me. I got Chip though so that makes up for it :v:
So I'm finally able to play the game. Sonic Runners wouldn't run on my old Sony Xperia J (the phone just must not have been sufficiently powerful) but it runs like a dream on my new Z3 Compact. One thing that struck me as odd is that if you try to download the game from the US Google Play store the game doesn't download because Sega haven't listed the Sony Xperia Z series as compatible and yet this is completely untrue; I downloaded the APK of the latest version and it runs. Perfectly. As for the game itself I haven't had sufficient time with it yet but it seems like a competently made fun distraction. It struck me as Sonic Dash in 2D essentially but with Sonic Team production values. The only downside is still no offline mode which means I don't think I'm going to be able to kill time with this on the train or whatever (without ruining my phone's limited data plan). Any word on whether this game is going to eventually get an offline mode?
They haven't really said anything, as everything you do in the game is tied to the rankings and rewards system. Maybe they will in some update later on bit at the moment nothing of the sort has been mentioned.
Ah okay. Thanks. I just thought it was somewhat strange that Sega failed to give this game an offline mode when so many users are clearly going to be playing this on the go. Most people have limited data plans. They've essentially made it so if you want to safely play this without burning through your mobile data you have to be near a router which kind of kills the idea of this being a game to play on commutes or out and about. Hopefully a new update will rectify this soon.
As I understand it, it doesn't run on any device from the US Play store, because it's only available in Canada and Japan.
So there's a new free companion that you get for logging in: Shahra. She's Merlina, but for items, and is just as broken. The score bonus isn't as potent as Merlina, but the combo threshold is much lower. If you've got Wizard Chao, even better. You can cycle through as item bonuses as fast as the Character Swap will let you, but Invincibility stops when you switch characters.
So the game's getting an update today, and according to the notice they put out we'll need a new version. Anyone here able to upload the APK when it gets out?
Good point. I'll need the new APK too since I can't seem to download this anywhere still with the region lock-out. If anyone can upload the new APK it would be much appreciated.
And we are indeed waiting on a new APK now. In the meantime, update details from the Play Store: Overall it seems pretty decent, hopefully "small bug fixes" includes the Merlina exploit.

Thanks again for that! So the big thing is that you can now see what stage you're about to go into, even once you're at the point where they're random. In other words, an excuse to use all three character types again. (Except maybe fly if you really don't like it) Also, new achievements got added for some of the companions that didn't have them and they gave out some compensation for the maintenance running overtime, so everyone's got 20000+ rings and 30 red rings waiting for them. Haven't checked the Merlina exploit yet, but so far this update is really good! Oh yeah, and the Phantasy Star 2 companions are out on the roulette wheel, same method of getting them as always. The SR companion seems really good (50%-60%-70%-80%-90% chance of an item when you tag a star post), the R is weird ("50% chance of a Rappy appearing", whatever that is), and the N has a neat idea but is N and therefore forgettable (every 100 combo all on-screen spikes are destroyed). All in all, probably worth shooting for so good luck everyone~
Since updating, I finally got my first Chaos Emerald, and got first place in my division in the rankings with a score of over 1.2million! The addition of being able to see which random level you are about to go into in the later stages is a brilliant feature. Saves me from spending unnecessary rings for items, only to go into a fly level. So handy!

I woke today to a notification for Sonic Runners saying it was completing "scheduled maintenance". Did any of you guys also get that? What did the game do? Did it update the APK file at all? Just wondering whether I need to install the new version or whether the game has already updated itself. Assistance would be appreciated.
