Sonic Runners announced (Sonic Team/Mobile)

    In this topic there is a link to download the game. I installed it in my Nexus 7 and works fine, I even have Google Play and updates, and I'm from Latin-America.

    Does this game work with blue stacks? Might be fun to dick around with on the big screen.

    Ya know it's funny. If Sonic 4 looked like this it'd of been that much better.

    The rankings appear to go F*, F**, F***, E*, E**, E***, etc through F, E, D, C, B, A, and finally S (so S*** is the highest rank). The main reason for ranking up is that the rewards for coming on top of the division leaderboards get a lot better, and that's about it I think?

    Nope, never mind. It's still HCA, but having looked at it again, it has a field in the header that I haven't seen before.

    On this note, gotta say, SO weird seeing Omochao have actual dialogue in this game's "story." Granted, I usually skip over it in this game anyway but still. It's really odd.

    Anyway, yeah, Runners is pretty great for what it is. It's simple and fun, and I've been LOVING the music, if a little same-y.

    It's a shame the in-game art style probably isn't going to stick around though, because again, I have to say that I absolutely love the character models! They remind me a lot of the post-Classic Sonic Archives covers for the Archie comic.

    I kinda don't like how the menu tutorials literally force you to choose certain options, but those are only a thing at the beginning of the game anyway, so it's whatever.

    EDIT: Oh yeah, been liking this a lot more than Sonic Jump and Sonic Dash as well. I played those a few times and never really went back to them, but I can see myself coming back to this much more than those two. It just feels a lot more "Sonic" to me.

    I doubt I'm the only one who's confused about the scoring system, so I decided to take a look. Some of this is kinda obvious, and I can't remember what is or isn't explained in-game, if anything, but whatever. :eng101:
    I'm not entirely sure how accurate this info is - This is what I've noticed while playing, though. Please don't kill me if I'm wrong

    The bonus, predictably, is how many extra points you get per crystal. Animals and rings work a bit differently - They only give you the bonus amount (with a bonus of 1, you get 1 point per ring, etc.). I assume x10 rings work by giving you the bonus times 10, but I'm not sure.

    On the results screen itself:

    The rings you had at the end of a level (or stored, I think?) are worth 70 points each.
    Every animal is worth 2500 points.
    The distance travelled is simply multiplied by 10 for that bonus.

    I have no idea where the game gets the "Route Bonus" from. I'd assume it's from taking higher paths, but it doesn't seem to have a pattern to it as far as I can tell...

    Anyways. Just thought this'd be useful if anyone else was kind of lost as to how scoring works. :v:

    What I'm finding weird is how the divisions work.

    Myself and my RL friend Liam were both in F* rank, and he was ranked #3 in his division... However, I was #1 in mine but we couldn't see each other on the leaderboard for F*? Does it segregate groups of players or something?

    I'm guessing it's a random pool, otherwise being in the top 40 of a league would be really difficult and not many people would move past the F* rank.

    And good fuck does this scoring system seem arbitrary. I can get to phase 2 and get 300000 points, but I can get to phase 4 and barely scrape over 200000.

    There's something about "route bonus" and being on special routes that nets you more points, either 50% bonus or 100% bonus. I have no idea what differentiates the two. Also the powerups that you happen across in the levels can really alter the outcome. If you get a Drill Wisp while you already have a high combo and then manage to get a combo chain powerup as well, you can pretty much just dance your way to the top of the leader tables.

    yeah the game has way too strong RNG for getting top scores, it's a shame but sega went along with a cookie cut approach, did a great job but not enough to keep me playing for more then a week or two as I'm already getting bored of hitting tier 3 and relying on luck.

    One way you could balance it out a little bit is by having selected power ups you choose from each run to be activated on command, not auto used at the start, that way you could carry a drill with you or a laser and use it when you feel the time is right.

    The game is pretty fun and addictive but I just hate how camera zooms in after boss fights and loops leaving me no other choice other than memorize level layout which I can't bother doing. Also Tails sucks big time.

    By the way is Amy worth inviting 10 friends on the facebook?

    From what I understand, Amy plays exactly like Sonic as she is a speed character.

    Also, on the zooming in thing - does it not zoom out in time for you to see anything? I've never found it an issue.

    Yep. Amy's exactly like Sonic except she gets a additional 100% animal bonus because she's speed/rose (Sonic being speed/hero). Basically once you start to unlock other characters, using Sonic, Tails and Knuckles will become pointless.

    And on the camera thing, I often get an issue where the camera doesn't pan up or down accordingly to the platform I'm on, so I end up running at the very top or bottom of the screen and it's impossible to see.

    It does zoom out right after boss/loop but past phase 2 it does that so late that it's impossible for me to react to upcoming obstacles or, in loop's case, to press jump button fast enough on the springboard that comes right after it.

    Did anyone notice that after the update the other night those oil ocean cannons now rotate a little quicker then before? it's good because you can shoot out at the right angle before your combo resets.

    I wonder how far they will take updates with this game, and I mean updates to adjust and fix things not just adding in more lines of text.

    Actually, I've not noticed the cannons moving faster. But from the start your combo has never run out in the cannons. Even though the number can fade away, it's halted as though you've got a combo chain item.

    Talking about characters made me want to ask, when do you unlock characters other than S/T/K? I don't think I'll ever get Amy with the current method. I figure those character assets are just in the game data and aren't unlockable yet, but I'd like to believe.

    Okay, this is getting tiring. Every time the rankings are reset, I lose all of my progress altogether. I'm using a Galaxy Tab 4, which IIRC isn't officially supported, but this is annoying as hell. Anyone else getting this happening?

    I haven't had any issues with that but I'm playing this game on an iphone.
