I've created a new Tumblr account where I'll post lots of Sonic art, like SONIC UNDERGROUND model sheets http://pencilhill.tumblr.com/ A few example of stuff I posted today : I won't post everything at once of course, I still need to scan some. (I think I have 400 sheets for Underground alone, but half of them aren't that interesting and some of them are just animation sequences) There will be stuff from Archie, StC, the mangas, the cartoons and the games. Feel free to add them to the wiki too.
This is truly awesome, I love this kind of thing. Followed! You're incredibly lucky to have this material. Manic's expressions are priceless.
Sleet, Dingo and Robotnik have been posted. I've scanned 91 backgrounds today. Some of them even mention Sally (being reused from SatAM...).
Hey, that's some interesting stuff in there. Personal oppinion on Sonic Underground aside, some of those charts come from (or are based on) the Japanese game designs, including some of Knuckles' poses. Thanks for sharing this!
You're welcome. I'm currently uploading model sheets of citizens, aristocrats and roboticized people. I'll upload the backgrounds (91 !) in the following days.
As much as I don't like the series, those designs are top quality! (And the song gets stuck in my head sometimes too)
Is that Knothole on some of those? TRIVIA: Ben Hurst initially attempted to pitch a continuation of SatAM before they tweaked it into a new standalone concept that became Underground. He stated in an interview to loathe working on the final product.
XO I really should watch more of Underground. Was it actually in full Satam form like it is in that art?
These images are so cool. It's funny that they went with mohawk Sonic in all the concept art, but the show had closer to 3d spiked classic sonic. Funny that they added the distinguished circle head though to all the already drawn art though.
Well, from what I recall, Ben Hurst talked about the first meeting where DiC brought in writers who would work on Underground, showed them a random episode from the first season of the Saturday morning cartoon, and said they wanted something like that but with the Underground premise. So it's not all that surprising they were reusing assets they had already created to build the world of Underground. Saves them money, after all. Which brings me to... That's not exactly how it happened. From the mouth of Ben Hurst on Underground, the pitch of a third season, and (surprise!) Ken Penders: So yeah, Ben's pitch for a third season came after he was brought back into the fold with Underground.
Adamis, you drew the back of the SatAM boxset! Awesome! Also the stuff you posted with the proto opening of SatAM kicks ass. I've never seen that. I wonder if there's a complete version of it somewhere... also the video at the con with the preview of SatAM confused me. Was that AoStH music playing during? Might have been coming elsewhere... but the cartoony jump effect of Sonic jumping into the title seemed very AoStH.
Quite some time ago I spliced one of the alternative intro music clips discovered with the current intro. I thought it would be fitting to link it here: http://youtu.be/xX4oHYucpJU Here is the other one someone else spliced with the current intro: http://youtu.be/P10oIBNPH70
A while back I did all of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OipqjpnPoUc&list=PLECE0A7460A19C60E&feature=share
