Not for all instances, just with the GHZ trope and games such as these. Besides how are seaside hill and splash hill not rehashes? Windy Hill as well. They're just like GHZ but they all have worse music, so why bother beating around the bush and just go to the source if you're going to clearly rip off GHZ. I'd prefer they drop the whole checker pattern greenery level in future main games though, but for games such as this they have their place.
AMEN brother! What the hell have they been doing all these years??? It seems like the only games that have this are those where Jun is involved. This should belong to SEGA, not him! Didn't they learn their lesson the first time?
So we're once again dealing with the issue that nobody on Youtube will post download links to the soundtracks they've more than likely recorded themselves for this game, which would probably have have better quality than just downloading the video. Is that really too much to ask for...?
White Park Act 1......more like White Park original/beta version before the better instruments were applied! Sounds horrible with the mortal felines! Route 99 sounds great and feels like its at home, I want more of this! Speed Highway is.....speed highway. It's not butchered so Ill take it. It's like an act 2 of the classic version. Leaf Forrest is good. Neo Green Hill......Fuck YES!!!! Unleashed theme, the original is a good song, his is much faster with a different beat. That additional Splash Hill adds some variety I guess. That Flying Battery remix sounds like shit. I only respect the fact that they use act 1 AND 2, but they use the act 2 drum beat throughout. I don't really have an opinion about Windy Hill...sounds the same as one of the acts to me.
The Mario remixes for the game are a fuckton better than the Sonic remixes. My favorite Mario remix so far is Bowser's Galaxy Generator. Sega Sound Team took the original and gave it awesomely 80s cop show jazz jibe.
The Mario mixes being better than the Sonic mixes seems to be the trend with these games, ironically.
The remixes for Mario may be better but I find Sonic music is just far better, if only for the fact that at least Sonic games don't play the same track for half of the game (they're also catchier anyway).
I think that worked for Super Mario World (using variations of the same tune for different levels), but other games it was just plain silly. Nah for the most part I think more thought is put into Sonic music, but there are a few Mario tunes that are just flat out unbeatable. Same goes for Sonic though.
Sega Sound Team phoning it in on a Wii U Sonic title (on the Sonic side anyway)... sounds about right.
