The problem isn't that the style of Sonic After the Sequel's music wouldn't fit Lost World, it's that the songs you picked in your video don't fit the stages at all.

Anyway, music is subjective. I mean, I personally think Sonic Rush's OST is the best OST of any Sonic game ever, and the music in that game is nothing like what's in other Sonic games.

  2. I was more or less talking about in-game, in-stage music than Crush 40's theme songs. I just love the upbeat feel of Sonic Adventure's music, and that reminds me of the genesis games more than Lost World's music... but yeah, we just have different taste in music.

Some will probably mistake this for misplaced nostalgia, but they'd be wrong. As someone who DIDN'T grow up playing Sonic games and only really got into the series later on, and with the first Sonic game I played being Adventure 2 for the gamecube, I've just come to see the ideal feel for Sonic music as a mix of Genesis-style melodies with Sonic CD/Sonic Adventure 1 (not 2) composition, which was pulled off SO WELL in Sonic ATS... but yeah, you've heard it all from me before already. If I say any more, I'll just be repeating myself. Whatever you guys prefer, that's fine. You know how I feel by now.

Mario-like music on a Mario-like game sounds like a good fit to me. :v:

  4. Well, it's still a Sonic game, you know?

So every Sonic game needs to have music in the same style as Sonic 1?

  6. No... I'm just saying, not ALL music in the world makes me think about Sonic. It does have a certain feel.

I dunno, the feel of the music in Sonic games always seems to change from game to game, even on the Genesis/Megadrive. I can't even call the half of it light-hearted and vibrant, because there are some dark ones in there too.

All that I expect from any Sonic game is that the music should sound fresh and exciting to listen too while blasting through a stage; even the worst Sonic games still have amazing soundtracks. It's rare that any of the tracks in a new Sonic title even do a homage to songs in older games, and that always felt right. Sonic has a very adventurous spirit, and I think the music easily reflects this desire to see new things and explore.

All soundtracks have weak songs in them, Chronicles has quite a few nice sounding pieces. Unfortunately the bad just outweighs the good by a rather large amount.

  10. We all have personal preferences for what you consider the best Sonic songs (especially with the many musical styles the games have had over the years) but what we have for Lost World sounds fine to me, it's flowing and energetic enough to be considered Sonic.

I wonder if anyone made a fuss about the music when Sonic Adventure came out, despite it having different sounding music compared to the classic trilogy.

making cool music no one gives a shit about
For what it's worth, I didn't like all the guitar based music as a kid. Eventually I warmed up to it.

Isn't this version of Windy Hill supposed to be a bit shorter than the full song, or something?

All right, that's enough of beating down someone's poor musical taste. Keep this about a cartoon blue hedgehog and how much you dislike this game for (insert reason here.)

Yes it's shorter. It lacks almost 1 minute and half from the complete song:

(Have in mind this rip also cuts the end so we don't know how long it is, it could be longer, the short version stops at 1:25.)

    SPOILER WARNING:

    The Windy Hill Boss fights:

    Not in English, mind you.

I do like the mechanics of the boss battles. They really remind me of the old bosses from the classics.. but... they are WAY too short in my opinion. Other than that, so far so good.

Apparently somewhere along the way Sega decided bosses with eight hits are too hard and make people confused as to why the boss didn't die after three hits like every other fucking game.

Orbinaut, the only badnik that was remotely threatening in the original games now shits its spike balls when Sonic even looks at at it. That's sad.
