    Bitches. :colbert:

I expect nothing less from any so-called "Sonic" fan.

I will devour the Sonic 2 port in the same way.

I went ahead and started a wiki page... really basic, needs more to it but I just don't have time ATM. I'll get to it later.

Sorry, should have made it more clear. I didn't mean it in a way like "I WANNIT ON MAH XBOX NAO", more like whether or not it's in the pipeline.

'Cuz if it's not, 'ave a word :v:

I'll shut up now and get back to playing the shit out of this.

I feel stupid that this is the first time I realized that Sonic sprite matches the Sonic 1 box art.

"For quite a few years now, I always said that I absolutely had enough of the classic Sonic games, going as far as to actually not even touch them and instead played the Sonic games I enjoyed more (Sonic 06, Unleashed, Colors DS and Generations)."

Don't worry, I agree! I think Big Rigs Over The Road Racing is far superior to Gran Turismo 5 :v:

Seriously though- the game itself is the same. Why people feel they can suddenly play Sonic 1 now but couldn't with the original is beyond me. :colbert: Is it the spin dash? That thing does more harm than good because level design isn't built for it and in places where Sonic 2 would have you go flying, spin-dashing here pounds you in to pits and spikes and walls. It is a nice addition though.

Obviously the extras top it off, but the actual playthrough of the game is the same.

I found a moderately cool glitch for a not-so Super Sonic
(I'm running the game on my Android if theres any diff.)

Debug Mode in Green Hill Zone
    - Place a Super Sonic monitor somewhere
    - Place Robotnik's crusher ball onto the monitor so that it breaks while Sonic is still off-screen as an item
    - When you re-appear on screen , Sonic will have transformed into Super Sonic,
but will still uses the original sprite, it's just turned yellow.

  7. It's because this version was done by Taxman and Stealth, and we all wanna support these nicely done retro remakes in hopes that SEGA takes note and decides to make a new classic Sonic game that's more in line with these remakes as opposed to Sonic 4.

Plus it's the little things like the spike glitch fixed and the speed cap on the ground removed and just being able to use Tails in an official Sonic 1 game.

This version =100x better than the original. I'll still play the original IF it's a matter of working on my REV C hack, other than that... that's about it. I don't blame anyone else for loving this so much... THAT'S first.
Second, true... the layouts aren't conducive to using the Spin Dash, but it can still be used effectively in some cases (Star Light Zone, I'm looking at you)... THAT'S a positive though... you shouldn't need the Spin Dash, EVER IMO. I actually love the fact that it is there, but I never truly need it. You have the option to have instant momentum... with the tradeoff that the level layout can/likely will make you pay for it. THUS you really need to earn your speed... which is the name of the original Sonic 1 in the first place. Sometimes I DO get ballsy and try to SpinDash my way through parts of SBZ though... that's a trip.

THIS. AND fuck Tails BTW. He's only there to be Sonic's escort/bitch and fly him everywhere... Playing as Knuckles is a treat though. Too bad Tails can't be HIS bitch too... Use him to fly me up and then glide from there... sweet sailing... :)

Well if we were going by final version rules, kiss Tails and Knuckles goodbye, as well as Time Attack, alternate routes, expanded Debug, and Super Sonic.
I'm all for a bonus level. IF ever Taxman and Stealth are going to add a level... HPZ in Sonic 2 IS THE time to do it.

    Working on my art!
That GHZ ball is awesome. If you enter debug mode and drop enough of them on Robotnik's head, it'll actually kill him. Reminds me of when I played GTA IV and walked around using that make boat appear code on land to have boats fall on people.

Another Super sonic glitch I discovered in debug mode. I'm using an Android tablet so I'm not sure if this will be the same for all.

    - Place an Eggman Sign Post somewhere, anywhere. Make sure not to pass it though.
    - Go back into the item selection mode and choose the Super Sonic monitor.
    - Pass the sign post and quickly turn back into the item selection mode before the ending music plays. This will stop the zone from switching.
    - At this point my game freezes for some reason, so I could not move at all, but by hitting my tablet's "Back" button I could move around again.
    - Now turn back into Sonic and run off screen, this will allow the music to play and start racking up the points, giving you some time.
    - Quickly turn into the Super Sonic item box again, and place one somewhre on screen
    - Turn into Sonic and jump on the item box
    - Sonic will turn Super Sonic as the points are still racking up and the stage switches.

The next act you will start as Super Sonic, but using regular Sonic's sprites. He's just yellow and has the abilities of SS.

Note: It seams that if you have less than 50 rings you will turn back into blue Sonic, so the first ring you touch actually stops the Super Sonic transformation. Avoid collecting rings in the new level right away. Instead, turn into a 10 ring item box, place many of these in one spot and collect a lot at once. Place many of them though because they won't actually ad up properly, they add like 5, 10, 15, etc. then start actually adding by the 10's for some reason. Funky.

Note: This doesn't work when switching from Act 3 of a current zone into Act 1 of a new zone.

Note: Doing this trick on Scrap Brain Zone Act 2, while placing a Star Post before the sign post, just shifted the screen forward (like Act 2's transition to Eggman at the button to drop you into the water level) and started playing the Final Zone music as I continued through the level. T'was epic.

If anyone wants to try it out let me know if it works for you!

Edit: playing as Sonic+Tails, Tails will keep up with you, jump as high as you, etc.

I got one. I used Debug at the end of SBZ Act 2 and pushed that button myself. Eggman tried to follow suit and fell through the floor and disappeared... Dumb bastard... I howled in laughter...
I ran off to the right and it brought me to SBZ 3... kinda odd.

There's a separate topic for glitches, by the way...

Hey, Tails' mouth looks better than in Sonic CD.

I wouldn't really say Debug glitches even count, by its very nature you are placing objects and doing actions which may not have properly defined relationships or behaviour. In other words your milage may vary.

We do what we can to prevent any serious problems but we're not going to look at every debug possibility - after all there are many opportunities to use debug in the original Sonic games to crash the Mega Drive outright.

So I got my iControlPad in the mail today, and yes it works great with this port of Sonic 1. Makes it a hell of a lot more enjoyable, too.
Now why didn't you answer my question about this earlier in the thread, Taxman? :(

I think you may have misread my intention. It's not a complaint about the game at all.
I'm just having some fun messing around in the debug mode and sharing the findings with whoever may be interested (in the wrong thread apparently)

The game itself is solid. Thank you for this awesome port!

Not where I want to be.
Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
Do a spindash jump then turn into super sonic. The rolling jump lock is gone...is that supposed to happen?

Cool little buggy/easter egg I found (unless already found) - if you get "Game Over" when playing as Sonic and Tails, you can choose any other character (in the effective case, Tails or Knuckles) and Tails will be following you. If you ever wanted twice the fox in your adventure, you got it.
