Huh. That actually works. Didn't know you could do that. Thanks!

Another excellent remastered release. All the extra goodies for us hardcore classic Sonic fans is great too. ;)

I'm excited to see what will be done with S2 and S3&K.

Got it. Great work on the port, but I still hate Labrynith. :)

Gotta love that music though. Certainly my favourite tune from the first game, and now it's remastered!

I think Spring Yard Zone always came across as weird for me. Music and level wise. :P My favorite level, for design and music, is Scrap Brain. I can't stop marveling at all the little Scifi buildings in the background...

Hmm, I've noticed it's a lot easier to speed through the lava chase sequence in Marble Zone in this game than the original. For me anyway.

Great port anyway, shame the game's graphic's are still blurred like that though, I'd prefer sharp pixels to be honest!

I am so happy for Tax, Stealth, and ultimately SEGA's success here. Hopefully this shows putting a little effort into updating classics is worth it!

How is that "debunked?" A similarity in notes used not the same song make, otherwise you'd have to accuse a great many famous bands of playing the same song over and over again.

I suppose you could argue that the more complete version had Mystic Cave's 2P music and that could just be an arbitrary re-assignment of an unfinished track, but you can't deny what HPZ's track was in the final version, and it would be pretty damn awkward to re-assign MCZ 2P's song this late in the game.

Yeah, debunked? Either way, the 'final' track sounds a lot more appropriate for a majestic, sparkling underground haven than that track from MCZ2P.

Also, how is HPZ a specifically prehistoric stage? The fact that Robotnik stuck a dinosaur-based badnik in there obviously does not say anything about its native wildlife or history.

Yes it does, just like how praying mantises are commonly found in factories, and whatever the shit Crawl is can be commonly found at casinos; the badniks are absolutely relevant to where they are found.

So, I finally hooked up my Concorde Tab 7020 and gave this a try...

For quite a few years now, I always said that I absolutely had enough of the classic Sonic games, going as far as to actually not even touch them and instead played the Sonic games I enjoyed more (Sonic 06, Unleashed, Colors DS and Generations). But this, this gem right here is perfect. The menu is amazing, the game's soundtrack is brilliantly represented, it looks good (The GHZ background really should be fixed, resizing plus blur makes it look quite awful) and it plays well. I changed the d-pad opacity to the lowest so it doesn't even bother me. Strangely enough, this and Sonic CD are the only touch screen games I can actually play. I dunno if this is a good thing or not.

I've seen some of those stupid Appstore reviews about the changed d-pad and I have to say that I wouldn't mind having a Mega Drive D-pad as a setting or something either. It's no game breaker, but it certainly would help set the mood even further. That and I experience slowdowns on the special stages (with these slowdowns, they are even easier than the originals).

Sonic 1 finally feels fresh again and it's all thanks to this dream duo. Good job guys!

There's no graphics in the final version. So if we're going by final version rules... it would be a pretty sucky level.

I think it's clearly a case of music being reordered (although I eagerly await that undumped Sonic 2 prototype to prove me wrong). The track the final version of Sonic 2 uses in Hidden Palace Zone is pretty terrible and from the sounds of the demo I posted, clearly wasn't set for use in a main level theme. That's my gut feeling.

Also the majority of badniks have some relation to the world they're in, though obviously you're to expect problems when you introduce nature-inspired enemies in man-made levels such as factories. And there are more dinosaurs in the prototype(s) placable via debug or whatever - pretty clear they were going for a prehistoric look to me

I'm sorry, what? I wasn't aware anybody enjoyed Sonic 06 more than anything, except possible Bomberman: Act Zero.

Have to agree there. That means jack shit, and is anything from debunked on the basis of that.

Back on track, c'mon guys, this is gagging for console releases. Pass on the message :eng101:

Also very much looking forward to Sonic 2 release.

...Wouldn't you rather have the bugs fixed, first?

They're not going to fix a thing for the console versions once they're released, due to the absurd costs.

    This.

Patience, people! Would you rather have a console version NOW filled with bugs, or one in a few months that has them all removed? It's not like you can't play Sonic 1 in the interim.

I think the issue people are taking is less that it's not on consoles/PC yet, and more that it hasn't even been announced. While some of us may be fairly certain it'll get one once the kinks are worked out of the mobile versions, I can definitely understand why others might be concerned.

The only thing I got for Track 10 is that it doesn't loop in Masa's demo, meaning it might be event only. But this has probably been speculated before. :)

I really do like MCZ's 2P music, and, even if not faithful to the original idea, would like to see it paired with HPZ proper.

I downloaded this and Sonic CD on my android phone, but they seem to be suffering the same problem. At least, I think it's a problem. For whatever reason, the game appears to go faster than normal. I'm having a tough time controlling Sonic in both games. The music and sounds plays normally, but everything else...not so much. Must be something with my phone. I'm using a Galaxy Proclaim.
