Well in the back box screen we see a pic of emerald hill 2P, but the title screen has no selection? It cant be hacked cause the copyright is still there.

Those might be final pics, and anyway you can get into 2 Player mode by holding the B button.

No, look at the CNZ picture carefully. This is a different prototype, more complete. Those CNZ tiles are filled in more, with less glitches.

In any case, it should be dumped, ASAP.

    Oh, right then.

It should still be dumped though.

Those also look like screenshots from an RGB monitor to me.

Those shots do look surprisingly crisp for a TV shot. I can see individual pixels.

RGB is a lot more common in Europe than it is in the US. The person who owns it lives in Germany.

    No, it isn't...

    EDIT: Here.

I had to probe it from your image folder.

Then their MD is modded, because that's a 60Hz output (no tall borders like on 50Hz PAL). I'm not trying to argue against this or anything, just noting a fact. That game is running at 60Hz, period.

I just reply as fast as possible without reading anything! The photos of the television misses the PAL/NTSC border and are mostly done in photoshop or by an emulator/video out. Very high fake factor.

    EDIT: Not PAN :P PAL

Oh for the love of god. He fucking owns it, and after a lot of effort trying to figure out what his GERMAN said I was able to converse with the guy and find out this much, and get these photos. He's not going out of his way to fucking trick you. I went to HIM, he didn't come to ME. You think people you contact will randomly whip up a hoax just to play with your head after they paid over 200 euros for the cartridge on eBay?

If it were a HOAX I'd have tried to do something spectacular like add "Genocide City" or some crap. Not just given you shots of the existing prototype (for all I know).

I'll be goddamned if I know what kind of TV he owns. But you're unbelievably paranoid. If someone ever shows up with another prototype he'll probably run off and never dump it because he's called a hoaxing turd. I offer you fucking screenshots and photos of a very plausible thing, something we've seen before, a pirated prototype. We have photos of 2 pirate Sonic 2 protos, and the Ecco 2 prototype I've researched so thoroughly was pirated too.

Still don't believe me? Here's the thread from Digital Press where I found the auction:
    http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40536
... eBay's removed the auction since it's been a while since it closed. But maybe that'll prove I'm not going out of my way to trick the wonderful amazing goddamned "Sonic Community" full of fucking immature idiots who can't stop hacking each other's damned forums for two seconds and cooperate over everything. Add these accusations to a LONG list of stupidites from this month ALONE.

I posted this so you guys could benefit from it and see if it was any different from the known prototype. It doesn't do ME a bit of good, I just thought I'd help out and contribute to a fucked up community a bit. This is how my good deed gets rewarded? Stop being so suspicious of EVERYTHING.

I mean, it cant hurt to get sucked into a hoax every now and then. Lets just go with everything anyone posts and figure out if their a hoax later, not just blast them with "HOAXX!!!?@?!?oneone" Every time someone posts what could be new information. Its all good mate.

It's likely his console would be modded, since when I try running Sonic 2 beta on my 50Hz megadrive all the music is screwed up.

I never said it was fake, I just said that it was running at 60Hz. Unless you put them in underscan, you don't really see a lot of the border on an NTSC set, so that actually makes it more believable to me. But, like I said, I wasn't aiming to debunk anything, just trying to state some facts. Plenty of European TVs support PAL60, and since the only difference between NTSC RGB and PAL RGB is the frame rate (well, that and a slight level difference at the bottom end, nothing major), essentially any of those TVs could support an NTSC device when fed via RGB.

At the very least, those are pictures of the prototype running on a real Genesis and being fed via RGB to the set. It's extremely difficult to hoax such a screenshot with Photoshop, and I don't think anyone here has the ability to output 15KHz RGB to such a monitor, so that rules out TV-output. (besides, even if that had been possible, there's a good chance the output would be interlaced, which we'd easily know if it was or not, because you'd see a double image and you wouldn't see individual scanlines). It's either a real cartridge (albeit reproduced, since it's a pirate) or the ROM running on a Tototek-style cart, and there really isn't much difference between the two (except for the box art and cart label, I presume the rest is identical).
