"Bitching" is a more suitable word here, and you're actually doing a spectacular job at it.

This game has been out for 3 other platforms, but you've decided to hold out on solely PC for reasons I don't care about. Either wait it out or get it elsewhere in the meantime. Jesus.

You know, they should release the Backbone version on Steam instead. Just for you.

I have one of the platforms targeted by the game. That should be enough. Instead, it's been a full month and I haven't been able to play the game while others have, nor have I been given an explanation as to why. I have every right to "bitch" (thank you for the pointer).

Conversely, if you really don't care, then why bother replying to my post?

I'm not ungrateful to Taxman's efforts, he's gone above and beyond the call of duty. I'm ungrateful to Sega's poor handling of the situation, and I'm certain that to an extent they're sorry too.

But hey, thanks for fulfilling my expectations and lashing out at me just because I'm unhappy about this whole situation. Love you too.

Have you also considered some people don't possibly HAVE the other consoles or mobiles and need to solely wait for the PC version to come out? I'm seriously not buying a 360 to play this game even if I want to support this port of a gem I love so much, and while I'm not giving a damn if the game comes out next summer, it is still a shame that it did not come out at least a little bit later than the other versions despite the hype behind it. Taxman already did his part, and sadly Sega and Steam are doing who knows what to delay this.

Probably has something to do with Sonic 4: Episode 1.

Is there a fallacy for this? There should be, it's fucking stupid, especially when people can't even work it into the context. If you actually read my post, you would've realized that the thing I "don't care" about is your reason for holding out for the PC version when there's already a bunch of alternatives. Don't have a console or a mobile device? Well gee, I sure am sorry that you live in the stone age!

    See above, thanks buddy.

I am going to post here because my presence ruins Corneliab's day. He used to have fun in this thread and it made him happy, but since this me fellow showed up nothing has been the same. -sigh- What a terrible life...

In other news, SEGA boner'd up all my Steam Sonic! No patch or DLC for Sonic G?! No superior version of Sonic CD?! What a shit load of fuck! Playing Sonic CD on broken d-pad consoles and terrible mobile devices is Not Cool.

The steam version is coming very soon, the release date was affected by logistics that's all I can really say.

    Damn you, UPS! :argh:

Good to know. I'm curious to see how people will grab this version of Sonic CD and mod it. Some of the Sonic Generations PC sound mods so far are quite interesting.

We even got the Hedgehog Engine logo back in! :v:

Now that you mention it, I'd like a bundle of Sonic CD and Sonic 4. Can this really happen? I'd kick myself if I end up buying them both separately on steam and then see there's a bundle with the casino night pinball DLC included. (Yeah no, that would be too much.)

Getting back to reality, thanks to Taxman for an update there, hype is slowly returning...

Well, I guess having to pay bills and student loan payments, and not being able to afford to shell out $250+ on a game console for one game that is supposed to be released on the platform I have really means I'm in the Stone Age. You know, I had no idea! Thanks for enlightening me.

Anyway, while it makes sense time wise, that SEGA would release, EP1 and CD in a bundle, does anyone think that they might bundle CD as some kind of pre-order bonus for EP2, because they are 'story relevant' to each other? SEGA seems like they would pull something like that...

So I played Sonic CD on a friend's phone yesterday (until the battery died). The game is a million times easier with buttons. >_> Some jumps I usually never have difficulty with were a massive pain in the ass in that version, but that's because a touchscreen d-pad is a poor substitute for an actual d-pad. Still, it seemed like a really solid port and I'm really looking forward to finally playing the Steam version when it eventually releases.

I'm sorry, but what the hell? A lot of people are highly anticipating the PC release because they don't have the consoles or mobile devices it's on. Stone age my ass; I don't have a mobile device or the consoles it's on primarily because I don't make a lot of money in the first place.

As for me, at least there's some news that it's going to be released soon. That makes me a little happier, I guess, but I've lost all hype I once had because I have been waiting so long.

No, of course it isn't a fallacy. Fallacies are based on something called logic, not your twat sentiments of "I have mine, so fuck you."

@Neo: It's easy to imagine a number of possible things that could slow a Steam Port down a little to the tune of a month or more. I'm pretty sure Steam has its own approval processes for software for instance. Also, once your project has initially been approved by them, you still need to figure out how to use their API with your game so that you can support Steam's mandatory features. If at any point in time you fail to meet all of the requirements they have, you have both a communication delay, work involved in fixing it, and then another Steam approval process for your software. It's easy to see how the whole thing could end up taking a couple months of extra development time.

That said, chill out a little. It isn't like companies have historically felt the need to explain every delay on every auxiliary platform.

I'm not saying this is impossible, but there's still a way to guarantee the same release date for all the platforms -- delay all of them. Would people get dissappointed? Probably, but at least it wouldn't create this unfair situation we're in. Of course it's in Sega's best interest to get the game out there as soon as possible so they get money as soon as possible, which is why I said I'm sure Sega regrets this, but only to an extent.

An explanation isn't even what I want. It's been a month and there has not been (to my knowledge, anyway) any sort of status update or apology. Instead it's been Taxman's job to go behind the scenes and console the fans in absence of intervention by the actual game company.

Xbox Live has a similar procedure, except according to many developers I've heard from, far worse. Steam submission and integration isn't really an excuse unless the PC version was started much later.

Get that 5 dollars as soon as possible, gotta speed!

Alternatively they could not delay every release because some dimwit messed up the Steam release. This is from the company that used to put up private meeting documents onto their public press FTP. Try not to expect too much.

Unrelated but I decided to finally drudge through Time Attack mode and get all those extras. I don't know why I dreaded doing it because I actually found it to be fun. I've been avoiding time attacks in games all these years because I figured they'd be more of a chore than anything. I'm ready to do it again when it comes out on Steam, too.

Also, Mercury (I think it was); Thank you for your Metallic Madness Zone 2 trick. It really helped!

After several updates in the past weeks to the Sonic 4 Episode 1 entry in the Steam registry, this time it was the Sonic CD entry that was updated.
A Sonic CD entry was added to the subscriptions tab, and, in the Applications tab, instead of a single "Valve Test App" entry, now there's 2 entries related to Sonic CD, one entry for the "manifest" file (app 200940, which shows that Sonic CD will use an external configuration tool for graphics options), and one entry for the actual content (app 200941, which shows that the game will use 322MB hard drive space).

    Subscription tab entry:
