Sonic CD now out for everything except Nintendo consoles

Discussion in 'General Sonic Discussion' started by TimmiT, Aug 22, 2011.

  1. I got my CD in the mail today. I just happened to be at my parents' house (I'm about to move so I wasn't sure where I'd be when it came) when the mail came. The cover's cracked, unfortunately. So far so good though, listening to it now.

It's been a few days since I've played the game, but I was playing it on my Droid like a week ago with Tails. I hadn't tried it with Tails yet, and I was surprised how much fun I had exploring the levels with him. Jolly good show.

I wonder why I've played it more on my phone than on my XBOX? I guess I haven't been home much lately.

Here you go, edited and tagged to be mp3 player-ready:

    Disc 1 - JP
    Disc 2 - US

(note: Pre-iOS 5 ipods ignore the Album Artist field, so edit all the Artist tag fields to be the same value, e.g. "SEGA" or "Naofumi Hataya" or "Spencer Nilsen", to keep the album tracks under a single artist.)

    edit: US soundtrack added

Oh... so close. The special stage in the JP soundtrack loops like the game does, which is awkward. (Fades out and starts over twice) I guess I'll substitute the version from the 20th Anniversary soundtrack.

Otherwise this is perfect, thank you. It's going on my iPod in place of the original. They should've used many of these on the 20th anniversary soundtrack. Maybe they'll get it right on the 25th anniversary version.

Many places sell Sonic Generations right now on both disk and Digital Download, but they all use steam to activate/play. This site just leaked release info.

    MIDI-to-SMPS-conversions, mostly. Takin' requests, too.
Considering it says in the system requirements under DRM: "Requires third party download and account," it's quite likely they are referring to Steam there, isn't it?

Kinda surprised this doesn't require more in terms of specs, but then, this is almost all sprites and stuff, so, eh. :B

    Oh, the emotional whiplash.

Not really Not Steam if you're buying a Steam game through Gamersgate!

Isn't Origin an EA thing? It would surely only publish EA games... Or was that the joke?

Beware, Shark Week's in effect at the moment, so, yeah.

When is the Sonic CD update coming, does anyone know? Taxman mentioned that they'd be updating the game, so it wouldn't surprise me if they release the updated version on Steam, rather than whacking out an already outdated version.

On an unrelated note, someone just take a look at my topic. I feel like I've scared you away having sod all information for 2 hours, but there are videos up now.

    Just saying.

SEGA has used Steamworks for their past few PC games (including Sonic Generations) and there's no reason for them to switch to Origin. Besides that, while Origin sells non-EA games, only games by EA have been required to use it.

I believe the digital platform for pc has to be steam. Or at least one of them has to be if they decide to use multiple ones for some reason. This is because of how their last few PC releases have all gone through steam and because of this: http://www.sega.com/.../sonic-cd-2011/ . Scroll down in the dialogue box and you'll see it specifically mention steam achievements as a feature.

Yes, but also look at the box that says what it is availiable on. Apparently, according to the official site, it is out for PC already.
Sometimes I wonder what's going on with SEGA, they say one thing, then do something drastically different. At least it seems that way to me.

If the steam achievements are true, I will need to re-download this for PC. The PS3 version was fun as hell.

I was wondering that too, because it does look like a nifty device for it. The specs for it are pretty similar to the Yinlips YDP-G18, which has already been released, so someone may have tried with that already. But I would be wary around JXD, they are infamous in the open consoles community for their flimsy hardware.
EDIT: After a bit of research, the S7100 doesn't come with the android market. But nor did the yinlips, and people have already found a way to install the market on that.
