So while finding a particular AoStH episode, I went to the bottom of the google result search. Then I found a weird foreign dubbed version of said episode, and upon googling the name it came up that it was from Latin America. So why bring this up? Said dub has a different clipshow opening. Different song. And it goes on for almost TWO MINUTES. I tracked down the opening just by itself, which is the video above. How many countries have different opening songs in the various Sonic shows? Sonic X is an obvious one, but what about the others?

    MIDI-to-SMPS-conversions, mostly. Takin' requests, too.
The German SatAM dub used the AoStH opening because they treated the two shows as one. :v: The AoStH opening was identical to it's original version otherwise, though.

Then there must be several Latin American versions because Argentina certainly didn't get that. We got the original opening (thank god, that opening you posted is horrible x_X).

Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 uses different palette colors. That's probably the explaination to some colors or details being different or missing.

    I DONE MAKED GAMES.
My girlfriend noticed something I never did.

I played the Sonic Heroes soundtrack, because it's awesome.

During the inverted part of Hang Castle, she exclaimed "That's Mystic Cave!". Uh, what? Slowed down, maybe; but it really is!

Might be common knowledge, might not. Made my day, anyway.

I didn't at first. The glock/stylophone lead in Hang Castle (Inverted) is the same as the secondary melody on that one part of Mystic Cave (1P), just slowed down. I can't not hear it now.

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album
I definitely hear it. But considering that this is Sonic Heroes, I'm going to assume it was an accident.

That wouldn't explain things like the shoes and gloves on the standing pose, or the sock on the 3rd walking frames left foot being shaded differently. Then the two pose before added more dark red shade to the right shoe.

Could all just be editing the gif creator did though, as said before by ICEknight. Maybe someone can check the ROM?

Actually, his post seems to imply those sprites don't even exist in the ROM:

It should be no news to anyone that Palmtree Panic 1 Present does a lot of cooky stuff at the beginning with the giant broken loop and what not. After you're launched into the sky, the level automatically resizes itself and you can't go back to the start again. However, all the other timezones have none of this tomfoolery and allow you to go back and reach the true left edge of the stage again once you warp there from the present. Of course, I wondered what would happen if I were to try and warp back to the present while within the "forbidden area", the part of the stage that gets locked off after you launch off the broken loop.

The game actually takes this possibility into consideration, and doesn't let you. As soon as you cross into that forbidden zone, the game throws a tantrum, grabs its ball and runs home. It just plain takes your time warp plate away from you with no explanation. Granted, it's better than exploding with a billion bugs, but, sheesh. All that for a stinking auto sequence?

I wonder how the Retro Engine remake handles this.

Which makes me wonder why didn't they just remove that part from the other timezones, preventing this issue for starters. After all, that could have even saved them development time, since not only they had to check for this potential issue but also they could have avoided having to build that part of the level in those timezones =/

To be fair, that introductory loop might have been a last minute decision (in terms of level design). If they had a structure in place where the design elements of Palmtree Panic had to be done by a certain date, they might not have been able to go back and change it for all the other timezones. The level designers might have been assigned to special stages (the only major things missing from the 510 beta) while the programmers were drafted in to produce a half-baked fix. Sonic CD was running a bit late IIRC by the time it went gold.

I mean I don't even think that "loop" works particularly well. It took me a few plays to realise it was simulating a loop and not a giant ramp, and I doubt I'm the only one. Could be a failed experiment tagged in for laughs.

Wait, that's supposed to be a LOOP?

I always did wonder why the fuck that was just randomly thrown in at the start of that single level.

I totally didn't get that it was meant to be a loop either! I just watched a Youtube of PPZ Act 1 and looking at it, yeah, that makes sense. I always did wonder why the background did that, sadly its an effect that doesn't quite work really.

For the record, it's possible to completely break the loop. If you press left as soon as Sonic gets launched, he'll fall before the position where the screen lock happens. It isn't a good idea though... Sonic will fall into a pit >_>

So... the loops in Sonic Heroes, and other modern Sonic games were just a nod to this... ramp in Sonic CD? And I'd like to see a video of that scenario Neo explained, please.
