So here's a big question: what music will be used for the epic Death Egg Robot rival battle? Are they going to reuse the badass Big Arms remix from the 3DS version? Or do they have an epic Sonic 2 Final Boss remix still to come...?

Although I'll be more than happy with the Big Arms music (it IS badass) I'm hoping Sonic Team has something special/unexpected up their sleeve for this...

a Generations-music-esque remix of this would be great. I love this theme:

    MIDI-to-SMPS-conversions, mostly. Takin' requests, too.
I like how the "Dreamcast Era" trailer actually made me like that bit of Sonic Adventure Music -- there's hardly a SA1 track I ever liked and Speed Highway's tracks weren't among them originally.

    What? That theme is terrible.

It's an extremely repetitive and uninspired knockoff of this gem here (which should definitely be remixed instead).

It's eerily upbeat, that's for sure.

To sorta go off-topic for a sec...

A friend and I were watching the Metal Sonic fight, when we had the best worst idea ever. Imagine after Sonic delievers his final hit from the player, it goes into a cut scene where Sonic turns around, and both Metal and Sonic charge head on to each other. Once they meet they stop while still trying to run/boot the other one out. Then it cuts to a wide shot of that scene, with Modern Tails and Sonic watching them fight.

Tails - "Wow, they are both matched in power and in speed"

    Sonic - "Strange isn't it?"

Then I see Sonic fans throwing their controllers down and leaving the room in a mix of rage and fangasm.

JcFerggy, I love you. A throwback to the Sonic movie would just complete the Sonic Generations experience for me.

On topic, however, I'd love for the Death Egg Mecha fight to be backed by an orchestral mix of the Sonic 2 Final Boss theme. It's my favorite Sonic boss theme. Not having that music during that fight would be heart-breaking.

I prefer the original rooftop run music, this one seems too busy.

Though, I shouldn't complain, as it's still one of the best Sonic tunes ever, to me.

  11. Okay.

So If you'd simply said "I don't like the instrumentation" or "man Jun's guitar gets a bit old", I could've interpreted that as you not liking the track but... Busy? Rooftop run is about blasting through "busy" european suburbia. I can't take anything from "busy".

Sorry, my musical descriptions aren't the best.

I just meant the feel is different, ok? It's still great.

The live recordings always sound kinda different to what we actually get in-game. Chances are the in-game version of RTR will sound a little cleaner.

  14. There's more instruments I believe, and yeah the live recordings are just that. Done on the spot.

The overwhelming positivity for Generations is so refreshing. With this and Colours, it really feels like Sonic Team are trying. And on the flipside, with this and Colours it really feels like Dimps aren't trying.

You know I really hate to say this, but I'll play Devil's Advocate and say he has points that you guys want to ignore. Really. You guys are that fucking desperate to look forward to a Sonic game even when there are certain fan projects around here that have been kicking Sega's ass.

And it's not refreshing to see us lower our standards. It's not. When I can play an accurate 1:1 "built from the ground up" recreation of the Genesis gameplay with even better level design than what Sega's offering me, why bother paying for the official games? There's no sense in it. I'd rather pay the fans who make these awesome fangames than give this has been company money that I could be using for bills. (Not that I particularly care to pay bills considering... well... You know.)

But you know, the polls are closed, Retro's confirmed this is an awesome game, I'm an awful person for not lowering my standards, etc. etc.

You're not an awful person for your opinions. Can we please not start this routine again? (Or can you at least make your posts as entertaining as Kogen's?)

As far as I'm concerned, my standards are the same as they've always been for Sonic games, and hell, video games in general. Those standards are "If it's fun, I'll play it". Unleashed was fun, Colors was fun, Generations looks fun. What's the problem here?

Maybe those standards are "low" compared to someone who expects physics that are 1:1 to the originals or something, but hell. Can I not enjoy a game just for the sake of enjoying it?
