So my PC isn't recognizing my SATA drive

So recently I got myself a PC from a friend, and I was rather pissed at the fact that I had a 125 GB drive in it and my only other large drive was SATA. Thinking I'd need my PCI SATA card, I ripped the thing open to find 2 SATA ports on the motherboard, so I stuck my 2 TB drive in, hooked it up to the SATA and the power and was hoping Windows would yell at me to initialize it (it had ext3 or reiserfs on it before) but I boot up, only to find that the BIOS takes about 2 seconds longer to complete and Windows isn't recognizing it at all. The motherboard is a "HP-ASUS Kelut" which is apparently some HP custom shits.

Does anyone have any idea why Windows XP might be doing this, or how I could figure out if the HDD is actually getting detected at all, and any partition managers for Windows?

Nope, it doesn't show up in the disk manager or in the device manager under "Disk Drives."

Funny thing, that 2TB drive has no jumpers, like at all. There's a little 4 pin cluster of stuff to the right of the power adapter, then 3 empty little holes where you'd normally find jumpers. The label on the drive mentions nothing about jumpers.

So, what should I do now? Yank out one of my many PCI cards I really like and shove in my SATA PCI thinger, or randomly explode? Yesterday I did screw with the cables though, and this morning the BIOS said something that had something to do along the lines of 1st something drive, and I'm guessing it was SATA since it was below all the IDE thingers. Windows just won't recognize it.

Edit: Ignore that, I can't read and it was complaining about something with an IDE conductor. Blame that damn IDE cable I found on the floor after 2 years >_>

 

Say, because I can't figure out BIOS' for shit, where would I enable SATA?

 

So I finally got off my lazy arse and got some time, I checked out my BIOS. Under the First and Second Channel Master/Slave entries are Third and Fourth Channel Master, which seems to be my SATA ports. They show nothing, but I try auto-detect in the BIOS and they still don't show up. I'm guessing this means the BIOS is a miserable piece of poo that just doesn't like me..

EDIT: I just shoved my PCI SATA card in and I'm essentially just searching for a driver. Murr.
