Sonic Boom 2011 Event Photos from Club Nokia @ E3 and Thanks!

Several of you commented before Sonic Boom that although you would be unable to attend, that you wanted to see photos of the event.

Thanks to Sonic Retro and Sonic Stadium for providing tickets to us fans and to SEGA for hosting this amazing event, complete with blue cupcakes from our beloved California chef (via Austria) Wolfgang Puck and visits with Yuji Naka and other SEGA/Sonic heavyweights. After the main events, which included special introductions, a rock concert, a live presentation of the fan-play "Needlemouse: the Musical", a costume contest, and a giant Sonic birthday cake (we all sang Happy Birthday to Sonic), there was some pretty good Sonic-inspired break dancing on the dance floor! I hope there will be more events like this in the future!

The artist was very intense about his work on the painting. He's actually sitting on his knees, so you're seeing the soles of his shoes. I was told by SEGA's head of community relations that this painting will be hung at SEGA's offices.

 

Hey! yeah, that was me The lens I was shooting with is a Canon EF 24-70 F/2.8. The lighting conditions—as you know—were less than optimal (we could barely see each other), so I had to go with the lower f-stop and lower shutter speed. In fact many of the first frames in this set showed people I couldn't even see with my own eyes because it was so dark.

Thanks for the comments! Hit me up on Facebook sometime. LOL, yeah, that cake was something else. A buddy of mine asked if I thought it was edible because it was so ornate. I said, "It has to be! Look how weird Sonic looks, he must be made out of frosting!"

I think Naka-san is like Steve Jobs when it comes to his dressing habits. Here's a photo I took in October 2007 of him at the E for All Expo in Los Angeles. I have seen him pretty much every year since 2001, and he loves those linen jackets!
